Ian7 Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Not mine, no affiliation etc etc etc but as its oversize and not scca-legal, it has lesser race value but still attractive to us. http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74158
d15b7 Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 holy cow I didn't realize how much a crossflow FF engine goes for these days! 118 hp (with a 0.020 overbore) asking $7500? I am having a full race 1800 cc AX block crossflow being built now (crank being done by Arrow). what do you suppose would be a fair price to ask for my current 1700 engine? its in perfect running shape; great compression using no oil. is 11.5:1 compression with forged rods and pistons, Elgin cam, steel rocker assemblies, ported head, dual valve springs, dual DCOE 40s, baffled pan. was dyno'd at 165 flywheel hp (when broken in and tuned on the engine dyno). I have been waffling between keeping it as a spare motor and selling it; what would something like that bring?
werthie Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Craig Chima is selling a de-tuned BDR (the coolest looking and sounding motor ever) for $11K that still makes around 180 hp, so $7500 for the advertised Kent seems -- how should i say this? -- "highly optimistic." your engine at 11.5:1 isn't really streetable on today's pump gas, which may limit its attractiveness to potential buyers. JMHO. alan in LA
DeanG Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 On the other hand I have $9K in a BMC-A motor which is probably worth $1K.
d15b7 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 hi alan. ya, I mix it half and half with 100LL here when I drive it on the street, and use 100% 100LL when I'm doing track days. around here it's not too bad (about $4.30 a gallon right now). but it is sorta a pain in the ass to keep 30 gallons of 100LL available in my shed
