Daedalus
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I've had the car for over a week and today I finally got to drive it for the first time since the test drive! It's certainly a blast around town. Just wish it had power brakes...maybe I'll have to coerce my wife into donating her Nissan Leaf toward that cause, ha. Anyone ever put electric brakes in one of these things? Took my 2 year old around the block with it, though I couldn't tell if she liked the ride. She's too short to see over the dash, of course. When we pulled up to the house I asked her if she had fun. She said yes. I asked her if she wanted to go again. She said no. So the jury's out on that. At least I can rest easy for a while before worrying about her sneaking it out for a joyride. Dave W
Robert It may take a few outings to get use to manual brakes, if you have alway had power brakes. I do not think you should be in a hurry to go to assisted brakes on such a lite vehicle. After a couple months of driving if you still think braking effort is to high, you could look into changing the pedal ratio or master cylinder size. But both changes will increase you pedal travel. My bet is you will get use to the brakes rather quickly. Dave W
Kitcat
My Birkin stoped easily with standard brakes. I suspect something is wrong with your setup (pads are glazed, master cylinder is shot, bias bar needs to be adjusted, etc).
slomove
Short opinion from the previous owner...yes the brakes need some foot pressure and to lock them up takes quite a bit of pressure. I had dabbled with the thought of installing a smaller master cylinder when I had the car new but I got used to it and don't think they are glazed because they were like that for a long time. My previous brake pads were EBC Green Stuff and they needed even more foot pressure. The ones that are on there right now are Hawk HP Plus pads which are a little more aggressive (and make a lot of dust). So other than the mentioned smaller cylinder I can only recommend a few gym visits. IMO a power brake is kind of anathema for a Seven...
