fatallightning Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Familiarizing myself with my new to me Zetec Birkin S3. It doesn't have wilwoods or anything fancy like that, car was built in 03 or so. Vented front, solid rear disc. Live axle rear. What was the common caliper and rotor used on here?
rzempel Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I don't have my notes handy, but from memory, they're from a '89-ish VW. Randall
papak Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I understand that they are from ROW late 80s GTI/Jetta. Check with tbox56.
11Budlite Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I don't have my notes handy but agree with the others. VW in the front with specially machined rotors, and I believe Honda (Civic/Accord?) in the rear. I'll see if I can find more info tonight. Some more info here: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?7241-Birkin-front-disk-brakes-(rotors)&highlight=birkin+brakes
papak Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 I know that on my 2015 Birkin XS, the solid rear rotor is from a ‘98 ROW GTI but it has been milled down on the inner side to. 10.5mm, approximately the minimum rotor thickness stamped on the outer edge. Weird but it allows the VW rotor to work with the proprietaryBirkin hub assembly. Wilwoods on the front.
