Road Ready Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 My Seven had a terminally dead battery. So I got a fresh one and suddenly remembered that I should have marked which wires go where. The way I've got it hooked now I only get a solenoid click but the starter doesn't rotate and the dash lights don't turn off. Anybody want to send a photo of their correct battery hookup?
wemtd Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Are your cables color coded? Follow cable running to starter : + Cable running to ground/engine block: - Check fuses
Croc Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Not near my car right now to get you a photo sorry but you may also want to install a cut off switch to stop parasitic loss draining your battery.
DavidL Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Perhaps it would help to know what kind of Seven, and a pic or two? On my '90 Caterham X-flow, the thick wires at the battery go to the Starter (+) and ground (-); there are also 2 smaller wires that come off the wiring loom near the battery and connect to the + side of the battery. I don't remember what they do.
Road Ready Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 Thanks for all the help. I've got it right now. ( I had the headlights on but didn't notice because it was such a bright day.)
