mrmustang
So with my hunt starting to bring out prospects, and my lack of spare time until June, I got to thinking if my 6' 200lb, size 10.5EEE body is going to still fit in a Caterham. So I got to thinking, I know the dimensions of a typical 427SC (14.2" across, just in front of pedals) and 289FIA Cobra replica (14" same place), I wonder how close the footboxes are in the Caterham, standard floor vs dropped floor, hence the start of this post. Anyone has the dimensions of the footbox where the face of the pedal assembly is on both the standard floor and dropped floors? Thanks in advance for your assistance, Bill
Croc
Virtually the same Bill. The dropped floor is at its max drop where the seat is then tapers back up to regular height as it moves forward. Photo should illustrate shape. At most there is a 1/8 to 1/4 inch extra vertical height at pedal location but not extra width. In practice it never made any difference to pedal box room in Caterhams I have driven with my feet. In the S3, pedal box width is critical with wide feet. I am 11.5 EE and I always manage to get two pedals at once in an S3. Although at size 10.5 you should be able to manage a standard S3 pedal box as that is the foot length cut off point, the size EEE makes me think an SV chassis is more likely in your future. I strongly suggest a "try it on for size" session with a comparable car near you. The dropped floor works best for those tall in body folks who need to get head below windscreen. mrmustang
Croc, Thanks, with my previous cars I ended up in driving shoes and was quite comfortable in a 6 hour+ drives, well, as comfortable as I could be with an original bench seat that is.. With the drop floor not really being an issue, I'm wondering if I could get someone to duplicate the following picture (this would be an ERA 427SC Cobra replica footbox for pedal placement and width comparison)
Taber10
I realize my first thought isn't helpful to the OP, but here goes anyway: To replicate that photo in my Caterham I would have to buy a lot of carpet.....

Renottse
At the peddle face on my SV I measure the width at 12 3/4”, heat mat will add 1/8”to 3/16”.
mrmustang
Renottse, Perfect, that is exactly the type of shot I'm searching for. At least in the SV, my shoe size is not really an issue. Wonder how different a standard chassis is, maybe someone will post so we can compare. Thanks again for your assistance. Bill
