Croc Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Congratulations on your first post and welcome to USA7s. It might help if you could please clarify which year of seven we are looking at here. For example, is this a Lotus 7 S3 from late 60s to early 70s? Is this a Caterham 7 S3 from say 75 to now? The parts you require differ by year. Some are adaptable from other years of manufacture. Seats varied by year and may be no longer available unless you want the current Caterham type. Lots of knowledge here that can help you if we have a little more information to focus the responses. If you need help identifying what car you have exactly, I can decode a VIN if you post it here.
coffee break Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 FWIW, my guess is S2. There is not any tube bracing in the bottom corners of the dash.
Croc Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 @coffee break Good call. Hard to discern from the photos but thats what I would bet. Starting off @ClassicBritishSportsCar if you need technical information as you work through your project, then please look here: Lotus Seven - USA7s Others can individually chime in on whether they have any parts they would have to sell you re your project, but here are a list of websites off my resource list of where you will have your best chance of sourcing parts. In no particular order: Lotus 7/Seven Parts at Vintage Race Car Parts Kinetic Vehicles Lotus 7 (leechapmanracing.com) Parts (mikebrotherwood.com) GOLDEN GATE LOTUS CLUB - Lotus Seven Parts Cross Reference (gglotus.org) r.d. enterprises ltd. Home Page (rdent.com) rockymountaincaterham.com Lotus Seven | British Classic Spare Parts LOTUS 7 parts Xtra Special Sevens Website is not working right now but Redline Components in the UK is also a source. If you are trying to authenticate the car, assuming it has a chassis number remaining then www.simplesevens.org is a good place to start.
ClassicBritishSportsCar Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 Thank you for the help
SENC Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Mick at XtraSpecialSevens can make seats for you - he does a great job. He may have the grille, too.
ClassicBritishSportsCar Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 Ok will contact him. Thank you
bugman Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 SENC - I am in Southport, looking for a 7 to build or complete an unfinished project. Do you know of any? Thanks Peter
SENC Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 @bugman - I'm in Wilmington - will have to connect when you find one! I don't know of any right now, but will keep my ears open. You might check @SevenAmerica as he often hears through his simplesevens site or the old lotusseven listserve.
SevenAmerica Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Sorry, not aware of any project cars available at this point! PS, having technical trouble with SimpleSevens just now, working to resolve it with my web host.
SevenAmerica Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Does the original poster still need parts? PM me if you're looking for old original parts. I may have some that you are looking for.
ClassicBritishSportsCar Posted March 27, 2022 Author Posted March 27, 2022 Hi John, For now, I need the black rubber wedges that go under the tail lamp plinths. I may also be interested in a Cortina engine and trans. I don’t have original seat parts. I may need more parts, but I won’t know until Tuesday when I receive and go through a pallet load I purchased. I think my car is a late S2 that was sold as a kit. It has a very late frame number that is not in the records. Thanks for reaching out to me. I really appreciate your help. Cheers, Mike Bucala
SevenAmerica Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Hi Mike, feel free to email me offline to discuss what need and what extras you might have once the parts come in. I can help you with detail specs depending on exactly what your SB number is.
