slngsht Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 We've all seen the usual suspects. Let's post up some less traditional Sevens... slomove Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Another one from Germany....>http://www.hkt-7.de/index.htm ....with Audi Turbo engine. I mean, after all still traditional, but well built and not that cheap. I believe one Irmscher is actually here in the US. Gert slomove2006-08-24 20:15:13
slngsht Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 Looks pretty http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/coolgleamA.gif . My German isn't so good. Any specs?
Al N. Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I think Rob Nelson on the Se7ens list either has one or is bringing one in. (An Irmscher, that is)
slomove Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 The HKT is a little larger than an S3, has a 180 or 245hp VAG Turbo, IRS, Porsche brakes, some leather and carbon goodies. Being hand-built in Germany I suppose the price is at Caterham CSR level or beyond. But really don't know. Irmscher has similar specs with a newer Opel turbo engine (210 hp or 240hp). Not sure if this engine is related to the old Vauxhaull lumps. Price is about Euro 50k ($60k+) with the 210hp engine. BTW Irmscher is a pretty big company (far bigger than Caterham) specialized on Opel (European GM/Vauxhall) tuning and accessories. The Seven is probably just a hobby for them. Gert
slngsht Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 man, these things are really expensive. 10 years ago, a 210 hp Seven would totally wipe everything off the road, but now there are quite a few cars with similar power to weight ratio, or at least in the ball park.
JohnCh Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 man, these things are really expensive. 10 years ago, a 210 hp Seven would totally wipe everything off the road, but now there are quite a few cars with similar power to weight ratio, or at least in the ball park. It's shocking how fast the average car has become. I recently was looking at some old Road & Tracks from the early-mid '70s. In one issue I noticed that the 2 fastest cars from 0-60mph in the Road Test Summary both took 7.2 seconds to cover that milestone. As I recall only 11 cars had a 0-60 time under 10 seconds. How times have changed... -John
