WTB Bushings for solid rear axle Caterham (1984)

I’m looking for a set of bushings for the rear of my solid rear axle Caterham, I don’t need a complete set unless the price is really attractive.

 

I know I can get these from Caterham in the UK, but that’s a complete set of front and rear bushings and those are too expensive and the shipping costs are simply too much.

Does anybody have a list of OEMs for these bushes?

 

Example,  the Y9 & Y16 were common to Austin & MG.

Y9: MGB 62-80, Midget 61-80. Other PNs: 8G621, QHY9, 282-305

636: A universal type part rather than an oem. Called a "bonded torsion bush".

2030: Same situ. Sometimes double bonded, sometimes peened/crimped around the outer ends.

With each replacement, the press fit is a bit easier and could get to be too easy. Knurls on the bush or loctite green retaining compound may be a good idea. Instead of pressing in new, I'd probably heat the old bushes with a hand torch until the rubber popped out, leaving a smooth shell and inner sleeve, then machine nylon or delrin tube inserts and fit uhmw thrust washers. Otherwise, with so many bushes, there isn't much to be saved when a full set is under $150 when bought here.

Thanks. I think originally the 636 and 2030 were from a very light duty, narrow leaf spring vehicle as the press-in eye bush and migrated to an industrial part when the supply dried up. It is not hard to find similar sized eye bushes but the length is always at least the width of the narrowest, currently common leaf springs today at 1-3/4 / 44.5mm. An actual "bushing" (versus essentially a round motor mount that can twist a few degrees) that is free to rotate would be much better; easier and cheaper to replace.

 

An experienced machinist could quickly (cheaply) turn plastic inserts to fit with flanges or thrust washers from about $20 worth of rod stock and a set of spares while he's at it and no wear to his tools or a short production run. I don't know if 3d print would be suitable.

 

Burning out the rubber is the worst part.
