2010 Caterham For Sale

2010 Caterham. S3 long cockpit, cycle fenders, Dedion.  Just under 4000 miles. It is BRG (yellow stripe). Has a Ford Duratec that puts out about 240-260HP (that is what we were told by Caterham USA that built the motor). We had the largest throttle body setup they had. You can almost put your fist in the trumpets.  Full weather equipment. Luggage rack, Shift Light, Leather seats, Tunnel Bag, Limited Slip, 6 speed Caterham gearbox that has a 6th that is 1:1 so you are always in the power band.  0-60 in 3 seconds or under. Scary fast.

This car was ordered (we built it) as a cost no object surprise gift from a son to his father. The LOONYs built this car for one of our club members, my best friend. Gone now, I am sure is having breakfast with Colin, Jimmy and Graham.

We have kept it for the family for the past 11 years. New inexpensive tires. ($100 Advanta Touring) I bought these because I knew the car was not going to be used and the tires would probably age out. Now the family has decided to sell the car, and anyways I am sure the buyer will buy whatever tires they want for their intended purpose of the car. The fuel cell has not been inspected in 12 years since we built it, and while it appears fine, cells are meant to be inspected and redone every 5 years. If I were to keep the car, I would pull the bladder, send the tank off to John Harmon at Harmon Racing Cells and have the cell replaced. Cost is approx. $1000 to do so.

To prepare the car for sale, I have changed the oil/filter.  I have done a brake fluid flush with Castrol LMA. I know of no issues with the car other than some of the dzus fasteners on the nose are broken. You could hop in this car and drive it anywhere. Car is located in Buffalo NY. I am selling the car for the family that owns it. I can answer any question you  have. My son and I are the only two that have driven this car in the past 11 years.

$50,000,

I sort of get immune to small irregular things on the cars I have here. Too many cars. This car does not have windshield squirters. We never put a nozzle ( in front of the windshield) on the car as the fluid canister sits right over the headers and is melted. Easily fixed if needed. The car also has the "starting" security setup disabled. When we built the car, Caterham could not get it to disarm every time we waved the circular sensor under the dash (to disarm to the "no start circuit) So they just told us how to wire it to bypass it. We were running out of time to allow my friend to drive it before the inevitable happened. Car just starts up with turning on the key and pushing the starter button.

Frankie,

Congrats on the new purchase. That makes two new 7s in SLC in a very short time. Another person, in SLC, bought the 2009 Birkin that had been for sale. I'll be in Park City for the month of August in order to drive my car on all those great roads. The drive from So UT to Park City (and back) each year is the highlight of my 7 ownership, so many fantastic alpine roads between Zion and Spanish Fork.

Perhaps we should have a usa7s Cars and Coffee.

Congratulations, @Frankie. I'm in the process of evaluating my thoughts on getting a Seven. I'm meeting up with Jim, @kayentaskier, on 8/12 Saturday, in Park City. I'll be driving from Minneapolis. Would be cool to have you along. If you're able, send a message to me and Jim. Of course, we'll watch the weather forecast. If it isn't dry, we'll move the schedule around for a nice day.

@Silber: Gregory, you could join us on 8/12 if you can. We're meeting at

Brighton Store & Cafe, 8302 South Brighton Loop Road, Brighton

The exact time isn't set yet. If the weather isn't good, we could move the date around a bit.

Guys, I'm not sure i'll be ready to drive soon, I'm having some trouble registering and emission issues.  There not a big problem but time consuming.  Utah has a law that any outside the state cars have to go through our health department emissions test. You have to call and make an appointment.  I've done that for next week and i hope that goes smooth.  then it's off to the hills!  Tony was not wrong when he said it was a fast car.   Scary fast to be exact and i've owned some fast cars.  I ordered new avons from Roger Krouse and I should have them ready for next week also. Pic below is my garage partner and myself when we were racing at UMC or at that time Miller motorsports park.

Finger's crossed you get it resolved by the 12th. Luckily I was able to register my 7 as a '64 Assembled Vehicle. No emissions required, just a lengthy visit to the DMV with a VIN inspection out in the parking lot.

In my case it was a new build and, importantly, I don't live in a county that requires smog inspection. The DMV inspectors came to my home, reviewed the docs and assigned the chassis number as the VIN. I drove another car to DMV and walked out 30 minutes later with plates.

Works for me; looking forward to it. Jim graciously met with me last year at the same spot to give me my first in-person experience with a 7.

Yeah, Jim mentioned it. He personally could be responsible for adding to the Seven-Owners count! He warned I might become a victim and end up getting one...! :-)

Hope it goes well. If you're able to get it registered, you could come along; you've a month! :-) Nice track rides!

That's what I call a royal treatment, Jim! Could be the easiest and painless way to register a Seven! I should move into your county.....!
