Hi guys- I’m after one of these for a project. XFlow intake “manifold” for dual Weber 40 dcoe. Please let me know if you’ve got one to sell!

I've got one that I think is correct, but I'm not 100% sure. The person I got it from said it was from a 2L pinto, but I think it's from a 1600 X-Flow. From what I can find online, the Pinto has 2 bolts between the center ports, this has 1. A few measurements are below. If anyone else knows how to positively ID it, let me know.

The 2 outside mounting holes are at 14 7/16"

Runner spacing is 3 7/8", 3 5/8", 3 7/8"

I compare gaskets. I'm confident this is a xflow intake and not a pinto because:

1)      The old gasket impression is still visible (xflow is scalloped/narrowed).

2)      The inner bolt holes are all higher (relative to the ports) on the xflow.

3)      The heat crossover would not seal if using the pinto gasket.

4)      The missing center bolt hole.

What you have seems to be the same unit that was/is bolted to my xflow. Installed at some point by previous owner and appears to have been modified as evidenced by the welds behind the mounting face . Can only speculate this was done to shorten the manifold runners or adjust the angle to better fit in a cat??

At any rate, I got another set of dcoe carbs and noticed that they don’t line up perfectly on the existing manifold studs. Upon further investigation I see that the old carbs had their mounting holes bored out slightly to fit.

I don’t believe it should be so, hence why I’m after an unmolested manifold to try. Also I’ve seen some other manifolds with the center support bridge (between runner 2&3) further back from the throttle face which will work better with my throttle actuators.

However curious now since we are here, For those in the know… and maybe specifically @MV8 ,  is this a typical fit “mod” ; ie enlarging carb mounting holes?. I’m a FI guy so I admit not fully attuned to all the carby quirks.

The threaded stud locations on my manifold don’t look to have been altered (unless they warped/moved ever so slightly from the welding heat). if it’s just a case of “expect sub optimal fitment and adjust to fit in the field” then I will proceed accordingly. I just didn’t want to go boring out mounting holes on a new carb if i didn’t have to.

Interesting.

Mine does have longer runners, not sure if it's an issue or not. I've also seen the center support cutout.

DCOE slides right on the studs, no problem.

Dez, a quick check of the Burton catalog shows two manifolds.  The Details section of each page has dimensions, including the angle.  If you haven't already seen this, it might be worth comparing these to your modified manifold and pay particular attention to how your carbs are currently located.  How much clearance before any part of them contact the bonnet and also clearance over the top chassis rail.

They also sell a kit with the Webers.  It's hard to tell, but it almost looks like the intake manifold length may be slightly different than the other two.  Might be worth contacting them to ask.  https://www.burtonpower.com/weber-twin-carb-kit-40dcoe-x-2-ford-x-flow-ohv-webpfo202.html

Might be worth checking the bean engineering Ford racers catalog. It mentions two manifolds with photos and says one has long runners so not to be used in a seven.

Not normal, but I wonder if the studs are slightly oversize to a more commonly available size. Slightly oversize flange holes would still center on the same stud spacing. It looks like the manifold was cut to lower the carbs.
