Oddbrit Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 Just got my 63 Series 2 running for first time in a year and more importantly driving for first time since late 70's. Unfortunately to aftermarket muffler soundly terrible. I don't think it has any baffling left. Any sources, preferably in US. Thanks in advance - Jim
7Westfield Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 If you're interested in a stainless unit, I put a magnaflow on mine xflow with 2" pipe https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mpe-14444
MV8 Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 These may give you some idea but not for 1-3/4 pipe. Echoing Scott, what is the pipe od? What is the length from the end of the pipe to the fender? How many inches from the pipe to the side of the car? Can you weld or will this just be slipping together and clamping? A picture might help too, including the unsuitable muffler you have now.
Lotusfan Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 (edited) Following this as I’m looking too. The small pipes make getting something easily difficult, especially so if you can’t weld yourself! The collector pipe is 1.625 OD. What I have on now is 36” from collector pipe to end. The muffler itself is 19 1/2” long and 2 3/4” diameter. My guess is that a good exhaust shop willing and able to make something is going to be needed. Could be that if there are a couple of us looking a couple could be made up but shipping could make that plan not worthwhile. Edited May 8, 2024 by Lotusfan Added measurements and photo
MV8 Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 (edited) I narrowed it down based on fit and best muffling ability (appearance not so much but they could be skinned with stainless sheet is desired or ceramic paint). Twice the od and offset inlet to help compensate but likely moved back enough for the exhaust shop to provide a short piece of pipe offset/joggled to aid body clearance and allow max ground and wing clearance. Didn't look at glass packs or ovals, just round. There are some tractor mufflers that are practically identical but don't offer any improvement. For a bit larger/looser fit to the inlet: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mpe-201-9994 and https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-17816 Edited May 8, 2024 by MV8
