TobyinNJ
I am struggling to find a tuner on the East Coast that wants anything to do with my Birkins ECU. It's a Delta 400 (https://www.scs-delta.co.uk/current-delta-ecu-range) on a Ford Duratech engine. Any help GREATLY appreciated.
Vovchandr
I don't have an answer you want but I have been in similar shoes as you trying to find somebody to work on the Pectel. Unfortunately I don't have good news. Most tuners worth their weight are busy and don't want to deal with ECU's and softwares they aren't familiar with. They would be willing to do so but they will gladly do so while charging you by the hour, which becomes just as expensive as swapping to an ECU that they might be familiar with. Your options become either learn how to tune yourself and do most of the things you want to do or swap to a different ECU, either OEM if there is no need for standalone or just a more common standalone that more would be familiar with. I had to drive (tow) all the way to NC from NY to have @1turbofocus help me with mine and he did a fantastic job even though the software had it's limitations. He's the guru of Zetecs and I believe Duratecs and could be worth reaching out to for consult. Whats done with your Duratec to justify standalone? TobyinNJ
I don't know the driver behind the ECU choice. I'm the second owner. It bored and stroked to 2.5L and has a hot cam, so maybe that? I will for sure reach out to @1turbofocus. I'm in NJ and the car is quite driveable (it's running rich, not lean). Thanks for your input @Vovchandr Edit: I read the location wrong. I thought he was in NY and you were in NC ;-) Edited May 14 by TobyinNJ

TobyinNJ
I'm running this 400S ECU https://www.scs-delta.co.uk/current-delta-ecu-range Which is programable with this software https://www.scs-delta.co.uk/software Is that something you can work with? Tempesto
I have a similar issue with my Birkin, I'm running an Emerald ecu and the tuners in my area are the same bless their hearts. As far as ecu choice Emerald is very popular in the UK as I'm sure Delta is. The best piece of advice I got when I asked the same question as you was learn the software and hardware which I did. I learned the basics of adjusting a fuel table and got my car out of it's lean condition and is 100% drivable albeit running rich but I am enjoying my car, I'm just a bit afraid to track it. You can get an ecu that your local tuners will deal with and even a harness, I considered that. Have you checked with Tom Carlin, that's the ecu he installs. Sorry wish I could be of more help. TobyinNJ
I bought the car from Tom. He is incredibly helpful, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. He would sort it out remotely if I could get the software to record data to send him. The car connects with the laptop and starts showing real time data, but I can’t get it to log anything. I must have tried 5 times now and can’t get it to record anything. I consider myself fairly computer savvy and can’t figure it out. It’s infuriating. Tempesto
That's really strange, my Emerald software wont let me data log either, I get a Windows error "Floating Point Division by zero" the program opens and runs but wont log. I can get real time data as well, I'm fairly computer savvy as well but it frustrated me to no end I couldn't find anything from Windows only thing I didn't check was the UK 7's Blat site they have a lot of good information. My try https://usa7s.net/ips/topic/14658-ecu-mapping-and-engine-tuning/ I spoke to Tom as well about my Emerald and he suggested changing over to Delta or something more "popular" with the tuner class
JohnCh
@Tempesto did it log correctly in the past? Have you already checked Emerald's site to ensure you are using the correct software version for the model fitted? Assuming yes to both, have you tried pinging Emerald? They can be a little slow to respond these days and it may take a few attempts, but Karl is very helpful once you get a hold of him. Tempesto
It was the first time I had ever tried to log anything so I don't know. My ecu is an older model and I'm using the correct software version for my model, they haven't and probably wont update the software so there could be a new version of Windows issue I'm experiencing. I joined an Emerald group on fb and they hadn't experienced it. I haven't contacted Emerald about the Windows error, I did about another issue and they were helpful but in a very general way.
slowdude
You could try intermecancia in mamaroneck. He knows the cars and the emerald ecus. He did work on my car that I'm happy with. I'm currently going through some emerald stuff in Northern Morris County so if you find someone more local let me know.
