Here is an example of some pretty lousy driving as it was my first time out at Grattan raceway.  I found this race track a little bit hard to master because there are so many turns that are blind.  First few laps coming into them my thought process was.... is this going to be a left or right hand turn????  scary stuff!  Especially combined with the cool, slippery conditions in the morning on this fall day.  But after lunch it was a little easier.

Looks like a fun track for a se7en - you seemed to be enjoying yourself.  Not sure about the surface - looks like a new resurface is needed soon as it was quite bumpy.

It was a very fun day indeed.  Beautiful fall weather out there, and the property is wide open like a park.  The dark black asphalt was very slippery in the morning then got better in the afternoon.  I decided to go with Toyo R tires for my track setup and they don't work so well until they warm up.  The 7 was keeping up with some heavy metal out there for sure but the aero penalty kicked in severely on the long straight away there.  Drag coefficient is about 0.7 vs. 0.3 for your average sedan.  That makes a huge difference over 80mph.  Top speed I saw was 118 at the end of the front straight away.  Another nice experience was taking the wind screens off and running helmet to the wind - that definitely added to the experience....

Love Grattan, and it is a great track for a Seven.  Blind turns, major off camber turn, a jump (or at least getting very light), banked bowl.  That’s a lot to pack into a relatively short track (2 miles I think)!

It definitely needs replacing, but it’s up for sale and they aren’t going to invest in it.  For the most part, it looks like they haven’t really invested in it in 10-20 years.  When I was there summer of 2023, they went out and spread asphalt coat on sections of the track that they were concerned were going to break up.  Much of the track has been coated.

Buying gas there is always interesting.  No credit cards, but you can give him a blank signed check.  You close out at the end of the weekend and complete filling in the check.  The pump looks like it’s from 1950!

The place is a trip in many ways!

Don't you love the off camber corner in cold weather with cold tires! Will scare the "S" out of you. Once you lose traction that's it.
