Christopher smith Posted Tuesday at 11:30 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:30 AM Would others like to contribute their experience and expertise? What has left you stranded or you spotted it about to fail? Some parts fail with age, some with road miles, some with track stresses ( not just crash related) , some with a combination and some with just poor application/design. I would be interested to hear everyone's experiences with Lotus and newer 7 versions, including model specific items, with details/opinions if you wish. Perhaps if there are a few frequent failures, we can then discuss better materials/designs for reliability.
Vovchandr Posted Tuesday at 12:43 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:43 PM I'd have to look back through my thread There's a very drastic difference between a reliability of a new build and something that's 25 years old now and saw seldom use For me some of the problem areas and what I keep on hand now Throttle cables (keep a spare) Generally things coming lose (keep a ton of tools in the bacK) Old plastic connectors/unions for hoses Compressed CO2 air kit to fix a tire in a pinch Volt meter to troubleshoot misc electrical Lithium jumper pack Cyclewings glue or mounts fail every track day Even made a small compilations of failures for one year as an Insta post https://www.instagram.com/p/CJea92tJrL1/?hl=en&img_index=1 1
IamScotticus Posted Wednesday at 03:53 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:53 AM (edited) It wasn't me, but I remember the incident.. A throttle cable on a Crossflow, I think, came lose and grounded on the fan switch or water temp terminals. Result was a fire. I have heard of the R clips on the Triumph LF14 caliper guide pins coming off. Weber DCOE inspection cover wing nuts need drilled and safety wired. Edited Wednesday at 03:55 AM by IamScotticus
theDreamer Posted yesterday at 02:26 AM Posted yesterday at 02:26 AM (edited) Read my report about losing and then fixing the clutch cable connection to the clutch arm on our way to a car show. https://usa7s.net/ips/topic/15051-first-breakdown-going-to-a-british-car-show/ Edited yesterday at 02:27 AM by theDreamer
