Per the title, I'm looking for a 1500 Ford Kent block.   Standard bore preferred but might consider nominal overbore and block needs to be standard deck height.  Casting numbers 701M, 116E, 120E, or 2731 are what I am looking for.  Craig Chima, CC Motorsports, Akron, OH. Can a new Ford 711M 1600 be shaved down and be allowed?  I don't have one to offer,  but J ask because I'm considering building a 1500 with my block.

@Chris D is someone who might have a block

Craig knows a lot more about this than me but the basic answer is you’re cutting lots of material off the 1600 deck to get to the proper deck height/ rod piston height/ lengths to get it to work.

you also decrease the support  of the head gasket as you cut down into the block - the stock sand castings taper at the top to help give more surface area.

Or you can can use the long deck block and go to a longer rod and order short deck pistons to help move the pin up the piston  which is good for a longer piston dwell at TDC - higher cylinder pressures / BMEP - which is good. Other 1600 parts when need to be used> pushrods

it’s a $$$$$ trade off

I just thought about water jackets.  Any chance of cutting into one when decking?

For me, IMO, the only benefit to building a 1500 or 1300, out of a 1600 is to get lower reciprocating masses for a higher revving engine with the appropriate bottom end, of course.

I suppose for less $, for a street machine, one could drop in a 4AGE to get the same outcome.  If racing in a vintage class, no such allowance.  Sorry for the hijack.

I think 0.100" would be way too much off the deck on anything (even a slant six). That may not be enough cut to bring whatever combo you have to near zero deck height. Custom longer rods could bring a standard piston to that but if you are going that far, why not even longer rods and short, lighter pistons? Echoing Chris a bit...

No blocks out there to sleeve or just line bored too many times?

Burton Power U.K. sells a brand new 701M 1500cc Lotus block with the same specs. as the 1600cc block as sold by Ivey, Pegasus, BAT etc.  Part No. FL105.  7.8" deck height, bores semi finished to 3.228", 40,000 PSI grey iron, includes cam bearings, upper and lower thrust washer on centre main, etc.  L3000.00 Pounds Sterling without tax for export (L3600.00 Sterling in the U.K.) Produced by Ford Racing.  With tariffs added on, won't be cheap, but it is available brand new, and stronger than original.  Perhaps Ivey or Pegasus can bring one in for you Craig?
