Reiver Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I know regular carb cleaner can harm oxy sensors and plastics....what is/are you using to clean the rollers... I see 'Throttle Body Cleaners' and assume they are good to go but you know assumptions.
ashyers Posted January 7 Posted January 7 The solvents used to clean mass flow sensors work pretty well and don't harm plastics. I'm curious to know why the roller barrels need cleaning. Is there build up on them? Andy
Reiver Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 (edited) There is a bit of build up on the exterior of one barrel ... foam filters...of any type, let in more particulate matter than cellulose. Simply physics.... more airflow equates to less filtration, that includes nano filters or whatever name one wants to slap on them... Many use the foam as is...I will use a light exterior applied oil made for foam filters. Edited January 7 by Reiver
BruceBe Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Actually, with the roller barrel intake, much of the grime you see accumulating is due to intake reversion - un-burnt hydrocarbons accumulating. For vehicles with a bit of mileage, the only comprehensive way to get all the grime out is to remove/disassemble/clean the rollers. Otherwise, the grime that accumulates between the valve and bore gets wiped back onto the valve surface. Cheers, -Bruce 1
Reiver Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Thanks for the input..... you guys did the RTB conversion/dry sump on this car. I purchased it out of Washington State and the records came with it. Once I became familiar with the RTB's, sent a build instruction sheet...I've gotten them synced. 1
BruceBe Posted Monday at 07:58 PM Posted Monday at 07:58 PM When we were servicing it, it was a good car. But that was a while ago. We also adapted two customer-supplied parts - aftermarket LED headlights and dampers/springs. I recall some sizing issues with the front dampers. If he supplied the original dampers/springs, I'd recommend reverting. Cheers, -Bruce
Reiver Posted Monday at 08:09 PM Author Posted Monday at 08:09 PM I sent you a msg about the Nitrons you mentioned. I've put over 200 miles on it so far and it seems to drive/handle very well...tight. Yes, he had a lot of mods done and everything works well...it only had 2800 miles on it when I purchased...feels like new.
