So now i have a few months to wait....

Caterham offers a tremendious number of changable specifications for the car, that is already pretty light on compoents and such.  However, i was surprised which the numbers of items i asked about that could not be spec'd.

  • For example, you can order the side striping in any nearly any color, but the word "Caterham" is only available in white or black.  Why would the color pallet available for the side stripes not also be available for the lettering?
  • There is no option to upolster in the anti-sub belt hole in the comfort seats (standard or signiture).  This surprised me as Id expect this to be faily common request for a car likely to spend time on the track.
  • The leather wrapped roll bar option is only available in black.... Id expect there'd be no additional effort to have it trimed in any available leather option.
  • Smith Guages option is available on the super seven 2000s but not for other cars
  • Moto-lita streeing wheel is available on the super seven 2000s but not for other cars - Ill end up ordering this sepratly but would have figured this could have been configured at the assymbly location in Dartford.
  • Diamond stitching was replaced by Hex stiching option - I suppose Id happy with the Hex, but went in expecting diamond.

Very happy with what ill end up with but still surprised.  Did you all have an simlar experince?

Supposedly they are open to changes, so maybe get in touch when you place the order?

However with the new focus on manufacturing and scaling, they might not be as open as in the past.

When I ordered my 420r in 2023 I asked about installing the smith gauges and moto lita (or having it be a quick change option). Got a short no. I could have sourced the gauges separately and had them installed later which in theory was just plug and play.  But never got too far into it when final costs started coming in.  While I still like the aesthetics on those items I don’t really miss them but that’s just me.

I have the Moto-lita and the Smith gauges on a powder coated dash, close to a traditional look on Super Seven 1600.

do you know if the sending units are the same

I figured the steering wheel is straight forward swap. But the gauges maybe a bit more involved given the wire looms and all will already be configured

Sorry, no idea if the sending units would be compatible. Good question for Caterham though. There were only 50 units built with the Jenveys……

I have the part number for the under dash wire harness on my car,  but I will not be able to look through my records until Monday. I will provide it at ASAP.

I was told it was a direct swap since the 2000 series had the smiths and same power train. But once I got the costs to source all new gauges I backed away and didn’t really get final confirmation it was truly plug and play.

On my Sigma car with the Smith gauges the drivetrain harness is part number is 15703. It appears there is a sub-harness for the Smith gauges and dashboard switches. I do not have that part number.
