ottocycle
Hello all, I am looking for suggestions for motorcycle mirrors. I have the Pegasus formula car style mirrors at the moment and I cannot see S##T!! They have no stalks to extend them from the body and the lens is too small (my rear fenders are tailgating me!!). Mazda, I seem to remember you writing that you had motorcycle mirrors on your car. How do you rate them? Extra points for the suppliers phone number or e mail address. I hope to see everybody at Carlisle. Thanks, Dermot, Modified Hayabusa/Fury.
ayseven
http://www.ridegear.com/rg/item/F-500/Napoleon/AX-GP-Mirrors.html Would these do? They have others, all very cheap.
rv-4mike
Some of the latest sport bikes and sport tourers have turn signals integrated into the front side of the mirror. I havent settled on anything specific yet, but thats what I'm going to be looking for. I was in a Honda shop last week and the CBR1000RR has them. soareyes
Mine are Kuryakyn Ellipse mirrors from http://www.cruisercustomizing.com They are very stable and are available in flat or convex glass. You can also get different stalk lengths and mirror head shapes. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1946173655_DSCN2300.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/654041869_DSCN2297.jpg
JohnK
Go to http://shadetreepowersports.com/ and order a catalog (they don't have an on-line catalog). They have very good prices on replacement mirrors for motorcycles - on the order of $10, depending.
slngsht
Dermot, I can not recall where mine were purchased. They're 4.5 hours away from me at the moment, but I've been pretty happy with them. They don't look nearly as nice as the ones posted by Stan here though.
Walt Hoffmann
I was more concerned with how my side mirrors mounted. I didn't want to put holes in the body or windshield. I fould a good supply at: http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.aspx?GID=5bc2b432-3b09-4ce2-9c28-e2dba2a45bf9 In order to mount in one of the three screw holes holding the windshield, I made a mounting bolt with holes drilled in it to mount with a longer cap screw. see attached picture. I can mount it at any height and started in the top hole so all mirrors line up on the same plane. So far so good. I would also like a larger mirror. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/498045316_Seven Mirror mounts.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1456922639_Seven Mirrors installed.jpg
southwind25
Walt, i really like what you did with the bolt, will have to remember this for future reference..cool. We had the same problem the original birkins seemed of little use. we took the original birkin motorcycle stalks and simply mounted the bullet mirrors to them! couldnt be easier, then put a convex lens in them. ((Things in your mirror are uglier than they appear))...but they work really well and have a quaint vintage look about them. not heavy either since the bullet housings are just spun aluminum. powderbrake
Here are my motorcycle mirrors. They work just fine for street use. I have them set "wide" so that I can see cars in the two blind spots (I can't turn my body to see over the shoulder when in a 5 point harness), and as a result I can't see very well directly behind me. I can however, see behind me if I lean my head to the side. For track use, I tilt them "in" for a better behind view. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/953962599_DSC_4287 (Medium).JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1500606705_DSC_4288 (Medium).JPG

The mirrors are fitted with Multivex lenses. The stalks are furnished from Pegasus. I had the extended pedistals machined from aluminum. Previously I had motorcycle mirrors that were great looking but useless. When I ordered the side mirror stalks, I also order a center convex mirror from Pegasus. I modified the stalk height to fit under a standard wind screen. This is the best set up I have ever had and the rear vision is now panoramic. ottocycle
Thanks guys, Some great suggestions. I like the look of the Kuryakyn billet units. I too have the Pegasus center unit which I really like but I need side mirrors too. I just had an idea. It would be interesting to have an area where people could post info on whatever interesting, clever, well engineered or "cool" car stuff and accessories we come across. Keep it comming. Thanks, Dermot. Modified Hayabusa/Fury.
