Hopefully Kevin or Michelle will post a little later. From what I have heard they snagged the number 1 spot in the Green Car Challenge. In the Ultimate Track Car Challenge they got 3rd in the Varsity class which is all forced induction and v8 cars. Overall they came in 6 or 7 as far as they could tell. I cant find any offical results on the web just yet. Maybe Grassroots is going to keep it to quite until the article comes out.

Hey guys sorry for our delay in the update but it seems that the trip back home is way more laborious than going !

Thanks to Kirk and his beautiful sexy car for showing up and supporting us!

And cheers to Rob and his girlfriend/wife, who can't wait to drive their new 7! Their pics are beautiful.

Here are some links to some super pictures taken by Zack at the track! He did a great job!

I have uploaded them to my Flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92504181@N00/sets/72157605543852440/detail/

Or, you can see them in a slideshow here: http://www.flickr.com/images/slideshow/thirdparty_thumb.jpg

I like the photo were it looks like you are leaving the trailer area to head out to take care of business.

Michelle looks like she is a little sun burned in the backround.

Glad to see you seem to have done well and are heading home.

Kick ass K & M...btw, has Kevin ever thought about going pro? I mean, he might as well....

Wow, thanks for the high compliment Al.. That is very kind of you. UTCC is a great reality check... There are some great

cars and incredible drivers. They make you feel as if you are driving with the brakes on.

Gary, WCM test program, Thanks for all the good Qs. As far as inspections go, we crawl from front to rear checking every nut bolt screw and rivets and now welds. This in its self can take hours and lots of locktite.

Mojo went 2 years without any failures like this, Mojito incorporated some new designs and upgrades for strength.

Of course Mojito has much more grip. I have not found a way to stress relieve the welds in the location that they are in.

Bob was correct in that the weld did not fail. We have beefed up the area where it is welded to and spread the load out over an 8 inch area. this should not happen again. (thanks Bob)

John Stokes 7, That car is awesome... and he can DRIVE!! I was so disappointed when his drive shaft failed.

I was sure hoping I could follow him around the track and see his lines.... If I could keep up that is.

I am sure you will see his car with some wings on it in the near future. We had a long discussion about the

impact the wings make.

I invited him to come join USA 7s.

Thanks again to Kirk, Rod and his wife for coming to the track and helping/supporting us.

Also thanks to all of you that share in this adventure with us and provide such wonderful support through this

most excellent forum. Thank you, Thank you, Thank You! Your thoughts, praise and critiques keep us smiling.

Kevin, All of us at WCM are very, VERY, proud of you and Michelle. You have taken Sevens into the Big League. I know the sacrifices you have endured to make this all happen and I can't thank you enough for doing such an outstanding job. You two ROCK!:hurray: :hurray:

  • 3 weeks later...

Just I quick correction on our finish at the UTCC and UGCC 12th overall, 2nd fastest street legal car (the Atom was first)

7th Independent Varsity.

I had to call GRM to get this correct.

Sorry for the confusion

Well not making excuses but the Atom had to be in the neighbor hood of 80k-90k fully built engine with ported head and custom cams. He had 315 race slicks on all corners. He still only beat Kevin by I believe .9 seconds. Another factor was that Kevin didnt get many really good runs due to the cracked oil pan and mount failures and ensuing repairs. I bet if he would have had one more session he could have passed the Atom. But that is racing. There is always next year.

That was NOT by any stretch of the imagination a regular $90,000 atom.

He was running the same rotrex supercharger as us and had about $10,000++ in engine

work done to the car. Super nice bunch of guys. They were headed up to Reno afterwards and invited us to

join them at the track for a couple of days.... I wish I could have but our schedule would not allow.

I am planning on joining them to run at Hallet for a couple of days.

A very fun bunch.... I think after a couple of days at Hallet it might be more than a couple 100ths

of a second separation between us..... :D

Ultimate Track Car Challenge

Atom 158.214

Mojito 158.617

Mojito likes the way the Atoms look in her mirrors.... We'll see if she can make the USA7s folks proud.

As far as living it down, I love it.. Makes for great challenges in life....

Now I am on a mission from the 7's God.....

As Churchill said "NEVER GIVE UP (x3)"

7evin, when will you guys be at Hallett? I live in OKC and would gladly make the trip up there to see the cars run (and maybe get a ride...). I'll be in Dallas this Sunday (7/13) to drive Goldie, check out the WCM facility, and look at the LM body. If it is going to be this weekend, I'll have to cancel my attendance at a local Auto-X but it would be worth it to see the cars run.

If Brian allows it, be sure to take pics of the LM body and post up.

I am trying to work out the details with them. I'll let you know when it is a go.

You will be more than welcome to ride some laps with us. Make sure you bring a DOT helmet and

a fresh change of under shorts :).

Cheers
