Arya Ebrahimi Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 That was posted on a towing forum I read. Crazy how easily the canopy fell down. The guy and his grandson both walked away fine.
Sean Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 That video was pretty funny, but something about the phrase, "That was posted on a towing forum I read" really made me laugh! Just caught me by surprise, I guess...
Arya Ebrahimi Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 The fact that there are towing forums? or the fact that it was posted?
Sean Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 The fact that there are towing forums. Makes sense, I just never thought about it before because I don't tow stuff. Last time I pulled a small trailer was probably around 1978.
MHKflyer52 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 That is crazy. I am glad I am not the builder or designer of that building as that came down with little to no effort from what the security camera showed. Lucky no one else was using the ATM at that time. I wounder if they had a sign stating the max height for vehicles, if they did not I can see the argument that most likely occured with the laywers and insurance company.
solder_guy Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Two years ago .. I was driving my convertible (with the top down) to work and parking it under the ambulance entrance. One evening at the ER .. a guy driving a UHaul truck decided that the best way to turn around off the highway was to drive through the amulance entrance which is covered by part of the building. In the process .. the truck scraped the ceiling .. and took out 4 sprinkler heads. Well those things are made to shut off .. but not when they are missing! There was a large volume of water which drained down the hill and down the highway fou about 1-2 hours .. until the city water workers came to shut off the water! The police found the driver parked at the bottom of the hill .. asleep .. and sprinkler heads imbedded in the top of his UHaul truck. Everyone said that I it fortunate that I was not working that night .. otherwise my open conv would have been full! :ack: Rob

Last time I pulled a small trailer was probably around 1978. Yeah, with my hobby towing becomes a necessity at some point. I'm on the brink of that now. I *could* drive my truck on the street, but I'd rather not worry about breaking it and then having to find a way to drive it home. Towing just ups the fun factor for the weekend Besides, modern diesels can be modded so easily, they will make 400+ HP and 800+ FT-LBS with relatively simple mods(exhaust, chip, intake). Tow-rigs in and of themselves can become another expensive hobby :ack: Who wouldn't love to smoke Mustangs, Camaros, Boxsters, ricers, etc in a Crew-cab long bed truck

That is why I have an F-350 Crew Cab Long bed Super Duty (a true 1 ton pickup). I just love it when some kid in a car thinks that my truck is slow and I just leave them in the dust and besides it rides very nice and can pull anything that I own (34ft RV, 28ft car hauler with car in side) without even slowing up and still gets 16.5 mpg around town and 20 to 21 mpg on the highway when useing curse control (towing 13 to 17 mpg depending what the load is and speed) and I don't have to stop for fuel but every 550 to 600 miles on average. Manual says it has a 42 gal tank but I have never put more than 38 gal into it when refueling. It is real interesting when I really put my foot into in from a stop and light the rear tires up (Duals) makes one hell of a cloud of smoke. :d

SkinnyG Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Similarly, This drunk driver hit the lamp post and tore it off. But kept driving. Cops found him, the truck, and the lamp post in the parking lot of a local pub. This was in Vernon BC, 30 minutes north of my house. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/skinnyg/000e01c8945c8cf249906700a8c0.jpg G
