kitmfgr
Hey all, Keven is at Road Atlanta and is in need of an ECU to barrow for tomorrow, I have plenty in stock but no way to get it to him by then. Specs are any S2000 ECU between 2000 and 2004 will do fine. I will insure it's return. 678-314-3906 Thanks, Brian:crazy:
7evin
Hey guys, If anyone knows anyone here in GA that has an Ultralite S2K that will loan or let me buy their ECM... I will buy them a brand new ECM and make the mods for them on monday.... We have a chance of winning the TTU class and setting the time trial record here at RA if we can find an ECM. Thanks 7evin 678-314-3906
Mandurath
HPC in atlanta has a 2001 model in inventory acoording to the puter, but cannot get a hold of them If you know a way then they should have it. They closed at 1400, and are not open Sunday, but maybe you can work something out with them. They are out of Atlanta, here is the Ebay site they have with some numbers. Best I could come up with guys. http://stores.ebay.com/Honda-Acura-OEM-Parts-Connection_Honda-S2000_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ4602965QQftidZ2QQtZkm

kitmfgr
Hi Rob, Thank you so much, that is very nice of you. I talked to Loren and Kevin and he was already on his way to pick up Brian, so I forgot to check back on here and just now thought to do so. I know Brian is having a blast at Road Atlanta. I have only gotten to ride that track once, but I remember one place on that track that was so much FUN! I know Brian is in his zone there and having a blast! Thanks again, Jerre
Mandurath
So it all worked out looks like, now the important question!! How did they do?
7evin
I can't say thanks enough to everyone..... Brian came and helped us work on the car all day even though he had several cracked ribs and a sprained back. We installed the new computer and it did not resolve the issue. Fought with it all day and ended up being (we think) a bearing issue. Friday morning on our 4th lap coming down the front stretch the oil filter backed off and blew about 4 qts of oil out. I was turning about 8500 rpms in 5th about to shift to 6th when this took place. It ran in V-tech the rest of the day but not Sat or Sun. So we ran the rest of the weekend with only occasional vtech about 60 to 90 seconds worth. I will post more info tomorrow in the Road Race section of this forum for anyone interested. slngsht
I have heard of the oil filters backing out on those engines before. A guy I was autocrossing with had developed a crack in his S2000 oil filter, which I thought was a very odd problem. He said he also road races, and they REALLY crank the filter down to make sure it doesn't back off. Seems like there should be a way to have some type of mechanical lock improvised to solve this problem.
11Budlite
"Seems like there should be a way to have some type of mechanical lock improvised to solve this problem." - You could use one of these and safety wire it: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/512019249_HP-1004.jpg Or I think I remember someone putting a hose clamp around the filter and safety-wiring to that. 7evin
I talked to several S2000 owners and heard of 5 events where this had happened.. 11budlite: Great idea ! I really like the hose clamp idea. easy and cheap.
DeanG
Several years back we had the oil filter back out of the twincam on our Elan. My wife and I had gone on an extended 400 mile Saturday drive. When we got home I saw some oil leaking. While wiping off the oil with a rag I felt the filter move (rock back and fourth). Glad it hadn't unscrewed another turn!
