slngsht
Now that my seats are actually bolted to the car I started the fire extinguisher thread... now following it up with seat belts. How old are your belts? I'm finding out that they need to be replaced every 2 years if you track your car, which was a surprise to me.
RGTorque
i think some belts are 5 year, and there are also companies out there that will re-certify their dated belts multiple times.
JBH
Belts, like every other piece of safety equipment, carry an expiration date. Two years seems too soon for replacement unless you installed older belts. It also depends on the event. If you are racing, inspectors adhere to the rules and will check your belts. The only Driver Ed group that I know that checks belts is the Porsche Club and they are not consistent about it.
slngsht
This is from Sparco. see page two: http://www.sparcousa.com/resourceFiles/16.pdf I was also on the phone with RCI yesterday... same story. Now my car has probably only seen 10 days of sunshine in the last 2 years :nonod:
Ian7
Been racing a long time, first time I've seen a 2 year note. Most racing sanctioning bodies have a 5 year limit, and some manufacturers will re-web your existing metal buckles with fresh belts to save you a bit of money. I got a price on that from one supplier... $100. Forget if it was for one set or two.

Mazda, If you are doing track days only, then there is not really an expiration date for the belts. They just need to be in good condition. Some clubs may require current date belts, but not many that I know of. If you plan on doing Time Trials, then most likely the expiration date will apply depending on the club you run with. If you are Road Racing with SCCA, NASA, etc. then you will definately need to have belts with current dates on them. SFI only certified belts are good for 2 years and FIA certified belts are good for 5 years. HTH
