Ian7 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Anyone know what the so-called "metric" chassis is that is often referred to on BlatChat? (not a member there, so can't post directly) thx
11Budlite Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I'm not positive Ian, but I believe the metric chassis is the new mig-welded one made by Caged as opposed to the original chassis made by Arch that were brazed. Bruce :7drive:

True. Caged is now trading under the name Steel fabrications Ltd. It seems it's a subsidiary of Caterham Cars. Here's the scuttlebutt from BC, circa 2006.
bsimon Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 FWIU...the CSR and most limited volume chassis(LHD for example) are still made by Arch. The Classic, Roadsport, Superlight, and SV are usually a Steel Fab chassis unless otherwise specified. There's been talk on BC of a 500 squid premium to get an Arch chassis. Mav Richards has some "Arch Inside" stickers available if you'd like to advertise the pedigree of your car.
