MHKflyer52
Well today was a very nice day in Southern California, temp at 6am was a chilly 47 degrees with light fog in Ventura, CA. as I left the house to go to Super Car Sunday. The drive was very uneventful down the 101 towards LA except for the swarm of bugs that I drove through just south of Camarillo, CA., should have taken a photo of the smashed bug mess I had to clean off along side the freeway before proceeding to Super Car Sunday. I arrived at the parking lot were Super Car Sunday takes place at about 7am and found a nice spot on the outside edge of the parking lot which was starting to fill up very fast with all sorts of autos from a Morris Minor 1100 to Jay Leno's very sharp and immaculate Duisenberg to my 7. I started to walk around and look at the different cars and to see if their were any other 7 in the lot when I happened to come across Al's old flame and Morgan's new car. Have to say Morgan is keeping it looking very nice for having put over 6000 miles on it since he received it and he has legal license plates on it now from California. Sorry for the quality of the photos but I am not a photographer by any means and have a simple point and click camera. Well back to the rest of the morning at Super Car Sunday. While walking around after talking to Morgan I noticed that another 7 was parked next to mine and for the life of me I can not remember the owners name but know he's from Newbery Park and have meet him in the past at some other events I have attended. It is funny that we all have different cars and taste but we all seem to have or know each other due to cars and our adictiction to them even when we do not get to see many cars like our 7's. Anyway we all decided to go for a nice ride up Mulholland Drive (temp was now close to 80 degrees and clear blue skis) to the lookout and see what was happening up their and to watch the show that is their almost every weekend. For all of you Mulholland Drive climbs from the valley floor maybe 150ft above sea level to over 3000 ft then back down to the ocean in the distance of say five miles in a straight line but the road Mulholland Drive is close to 25 miles of two lane road that is smooth and full of 120 degree turns. Yes it is patrolled very heavily by the State Police and the Sheriff's department both by car, motorcycle and by Police helicopter / Lifeflight due to the number of crazies on motorcycles that think they are supper road racers but even so it is a fun and enjoyable drive in a 7 or any sports car. We did see one motorcycle rider being taken away by life flight and the wrecker loading the remains of the cycle. The rider did not look that bad as we passed the accident as he was being assisted by the state trooper but five minutes later while at the lookout we saw the lifeflight helo departing from the area of the crash. Oh well that is the way Molholand Drive is when you get crazy with any vehicle. This is were we all departed for different locations and I headed down the west side of Mulholland Drive to get on PCH 1 (Pacific Coast Highway 1) to head back to my home in Ventura, CA. which is about 50 miles of some of the nicest scenic coast highway in Southern California and a nice way to end a great drive for the day. Here is a link to some of the photos I took today if you want to see. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/SuperCarSunday#

athens7
What a surprise, Jim Robertson's name next to FTD! The more things change, the more they remain the same. After setting the standard in Atlanta, Jim's now schooling those Texas guys. Way to go Jim!
southwind25
What a great weekend... well sorta. Beautiful ,sunny, warm. Just perfect for...uhhh, having the car on jack stands and cleaning and polishing it, getting it ready for the brit car show in NE ohio next weekend. But whats this?.. we put 200 miles on it last week, and so far no oil leaks?!?!?! Did i forget to put in fluids? It's still a british engine and transmission, how can it not leak (even with new seals)? Usually there's leaks after 50 miles.. something is wrong here. Well for those that dont worry about waxing there belly pans, we saw dozens of brit cars out this past weekend.. and starting next weekend, we will be out getting ours dirty again too!! YAY! Is FTD a separate class or did each of these people have one good run but their times were averaged with slower runs so they didn't place in class? pksurveyor
This is a fun event so no one can take home more than one trophy. The FTD winners are not considered for the car division.

KiwiBirkin
I also meet up with some Sevens , this is the write up for our club with pics Well what a awesome day we had on Sunday, just over 300kms clocked in the run and a turnout of 9 cars all members of the Southern Lotus Register (SLR) we had 5x Lotus 7 replicas 1x Sprite, 1x Élan, 1x Elise and 1 MX5. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/Trips/HanmerSprings3.jpg The day started off with us all meeting at Pine acres just north of Christchurch at 10am every one was on time and it was all ready 20 deg, the forecast was for 23 deg and fine weather with some showers in the southern alps, we all headed off in convoy with the next stop at Waikari to form up again, by now both drivers & passengers were shedding cloths at the Waikari stop as we had hit a very warm norwester and the temp's had all ready hit the mid 20s it was then on to Hanmer Springs for a lunch stop with us arriving on time at 11.30. Those of us who decided to have lunch headed off to the local Robbie’s bar which is now in the old post office opposite the thermal pools, we had a lovely lunch and some great conversation, when we all started paying the bills the manager asked us what club we were from and after a chat we were asked to put some of the cars outside the old post office for a photo shoot. We brought up all the Lotus 7s and arranged them on the front lawn. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/Trips/HanmerSprings7.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/Trips/HanmerSprings10.jpg After the photo shoot we re-grouped and headed out of Hanmer and back down to Mouse Point where we turned for the run to Waiau and the run up the Leader Valley to State Hwy1 for the run home. The run to Waiau and up the Leader valley took us through some great scenery and we were also on a fantastic bit of road for the cars we were in, myself and Malcolm in the Fraser both took off and had a great spirited drive up the valley road waiting at the other end for the others who took it at a more sedate pace to catch up, from the turn on the state hwy 1 we then decided as it was getting late we would head straight back towards christchurch and meet for coffee at the Pukeko Junction coffee shop. It turned out to be a great day, great roads, great weather & great people what more could you want from a day and it’s the reason I got my car. Cheers KiwiBirkin
pi7ot
Nice pix, all. KiwiBirkin, How did you get the Birkin over the Kerb without tearing a hole in the sump? Mine's too low, even to try it crosswise. m
KiwiBirkin
The place behind the cars had a small side parking area so we used the low part of the kerb there to get up on to the grass and drive along to get in front of the building.
