Big question is how to get headers in there. I'm hoping some standard header application will be close enough. Custom headers will cost too much (either time or money, or both)

If a decent set of long tube headers fit, the engine should put out just over 500 HP at the crank. Otherwise, it'll be in the low to mid 400s...

Hopefully the rear will hold on the dyno.

And to think I was excited that my new cams are going to bump my engine to 220hp... Thanks for putting things into perspective http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif

Boo!!!!! I wanted a ride. More fun next time!!!! Oh well.

Sorry man... I have my vette up there for a new clutch and 4.10 gears, and couldn't find someone to help me pick it up. What better way than to drop the Rotus off and get the head/cam done...

Half way up to Baltimore I remembered that you were coming this weekend :(

To be honest, I'm as excited about the additional revs, as I'm about the power. My red line should go from a whopping 6200 to a screaming 6700 ( I know some of you are just past idle at that point http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif ).

I just hope the idle won't be too lopey

Whew! My redline will go from 7000 to 7500. Now I don't feel quite so inadequate http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif

It is kinda lopey... same cam, different car

>blipity blop blipity blop

It will be an odd sound coming from a seven

I have a similar sound on my Vette ( which is also a red convertible, since "All Corvettes are Red") but I got it by modding the exhaust, not the engine. see

  • 3 weeks later...

Just picked her up. What a nice day too.

It's hard to read, but the numbers are as follows:

Before: 278 hp @ 5300 RPM, 270 ft.lb

After: 361 hp @ 6600 RPM, 321 ft.lb

net: 83 hp, 51 ft.lb

I decided to go with a less aggressive cam for a pretty smooth idle.

There is about 40 more horses in there if I build some headers.

3rd gear doesn't stand a chance now http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif

For the autox I have to put a throttle stop at 1/2 throttle http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif If there was a little more elbow room to open it up, it'd be more fun.

I'm sure there'll be many faster autox cars there.
