MNlotus
i have a 2003 caterham super seven, and recently saw another caterham owner that had the widetrack suspension. is there any way that i can buy a kit or somthing so i can switch over to the widetrack? if not, what parts will i need? Kitcat
Ck w Chris at Sevens and Elans, or with Ben at Rocky Mountain/Caterham USA. I am sure either can sell you the needed parts. I know it takes a wider steering rack. Must take different suspension parts as well (A-arms, etc.). How much wider is the "wide" suspension, why the change, and do you expect that much difference in performance? Al N.
I thought your car had the Caterham-issue widetrack?!? If the car you are talking about has shocks you can't see...it may have the Freestyle ultra-wide track stuff with inboard shocks. I think Ed H. has them on this car. Boxologist
the freestyle in-board suspension is even wider than than teh caterham wide track suspension. there's info on blatchat about that.
MNlotus
the car that i saw looked like it had little extensions on top of the coilover and on the tie rod end. ill take a pic to show you what i have. the owner of the car that had the widetrack said it was much better than the normal setup. athens7
How much wider is the "wide" suspension, why the change, and do you expect that much difference in performance? I understand the front track on an S3 is not as wide as the rear, and the wide track kit widens the front track to match the rear. I'm told the benefit is increased turn in response, and less tendency to push. I believe the only possible front fender for this set up is the cycle wing; it is too wide for the clams (or so I've been told).

I ordered my superlight with the widetrack front and the clams. It fits fine with normal width tires. My 10 inch hoosiers stick out a bit though. :smilielol5: Tom
Kitcat
Athens7: After many track days, I have yet to experience push with my standard-sized front track set up. I run the same size tire all around too (205x15 Toyo RA1s). In fact, I have thought of going to wider rear tires as the car is a little tail-happy. But, in general, I am sure wider is better, same with lower and lighter. I am just not sure the average person would notice the advantage.
drew...
Dan, The wide track kit has different A arms both upper and lower and has the extensions on the shocks and the tie-rod ends. I actually purchased mine with the original kit. Bring your se7en to the next Cars & Cafe and we can compare side by side. drew...

supersportsp
What you seek. https://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=111_112&products_id=219&osCsid=772196ff6e81a6fd5a465ecb09fcaa78 I believe that the wide track also significantly reduces your turning radius.
