Mutt
I'm about to pull the trigger on an unbuilt '84 Caterham kit (no, you can't have it) and need to collect the database. Does anyone know where I can find the Tony Weale book? What other essentials are there? Thanks. I hope you'll be hearing from me often. Al N.
I have many seven books, but not that one! Hope you complete build by 7-7-7 and make it to the meet at Tail of the Dragon. Or better yet...bring it with like 12 more hours of work to complete it and I bet we find some folks to lend a hand...could be a real fun way to get your car on the road and meet some other Se7eners! Welcome to the forum, btw.
yellowss7
I found that the build manual is sufficient to complete the build. I have the Tony Weale book but didn't have to refer to it. I have a PDF copy of the build manual if you need one. Don't know if the year or spec engine and gearbox is critical to your build or if the 84 build specs differ from the newer chassis. Mutt
I'm in Asheville, about an hour away from the Tail of the Dragon, and hoping to make the trip on 7/7. Thanks for the replies; I don't know yet what the owner who bought the kit in '84 has in the way of literature. I do know that I'm going to need a wiring harness. British Wiring seems to be gone. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Mutt
Al N.
Mutt- Our "rain" activity for the Saturday of the meet is the Biltmore...would love any advice on that area of NC. I'll be headed down over Easter to do some more recon. -Al
stevet
Hi Mutt, I think I have my original Caterham build video somewhere - it's mid 90's vintage but might be of use. It's also a PAL VHS i.e. UK version. I could get a mate to transfer it to NTSC, maybe even DVD, but there would be a cost involved. Any use? Steve. BirkinBernie
Hi Mutt, I wired my Birkin using a universal harness from Painless. Great quality, well documented and easy to install. You will spend roughly $300, and it is worth every penny. See http://www.painlesswiring.com/. I used the number 10102 harness. Good luck with your build, and we'll seeya at the Dragon! Mutt
Stevet, Thanks. I'm going to wait to see what the PO has before I take you up on your offer. Bernie, I'll check out Painless Wiring, although in my experience, their name is an oxymoron. Mutt
Alaskossie
Here is a UK website for all sorts of Seven books (including the Tony Weale), as well as other Lotus books: http://www.lotus-books.com/html/super_seven.html Good luck!
