Kitcat Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 The "pumpkin" Birkin, noted in this section previously, has sold-for abt $41K, fully turnkey, 210 hp (at the crank) Duratec engine. Many more cars on the way. He loves the Duratec, much more than Zetec, as it's lighter and easier and cheaper to make big power with. Going to offer a 260hp Duratec with this next batch of cars. Cost approx $46K w/that engine, wide track, independent rear suspension, LSD, 5sp Subie tyranny w/4.11 rear end. He is now having cars shipped unpainted so buyers can chose their color scheme. As with other currencies, the dollar is sagging against the South African rand (where the Birkins are made)-abt 13% drop in last 6 months. This next batch of cars is at the old price, the next after this shipment will reflect the dollar's drop. Mike
scannon Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Just curious, how many cars would be in a typical Dick Brink batch?
wemtd Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Recently speaking with him there are 4 on the way. Dont' quote me but i got the impression that 2 may already be spoken for
TLRracer Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 He still has 4 new kits on his website/ 09's?
KiwiBirkin Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I have been dealing with Dick here in NZ for the last 3 months and he is now shipping me some Birkin doors too me in NZ for my car, he was cheaper than the aussie Birkin dealer and his help and communication was great thru email, if I was to buy a seven based car in the US I sure would be dealing with him as im really impressed with his service. Kitcat Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Yes, 4 on the way. That seems like a lot .

It's VERY similar to what I was looking at, but I REALLY want to build it myself -- mostly for the fun-of-it.
Kitcat Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 I would guess it would save $4-5K off the price. Call Dick and ask, he's happy to answer questions about sevens and I am sure wld love to sell you a kit.
kennyrayandersen Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Interesting -- that would be a considerable departure from the spreadsheet that you download on the site, but I guess all of the odds and ends add up? I will be back in TX for a week around Christmastime, and if I can scrape some time together (which won’t be that easy), I’ll try and drop by Dick’s place. I’m working in Korea, and with the economy in the crapper back home, I’m hanging on here as long as possible. I was hoping to get cracking on some type of project – either a Se7en or a Morgan clone, but with the way things are it will have to be slid off until things pick up back in the States and I can get home and get started on it. AS noted, the dollar is also getting hammered as well, so it might not be a good time for fence sitting….
