slngsht Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I have a long list of cars I'd love to buy for that kind of dough, seven is not one of them. Yikes!
Greg350 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 (edited) Looking for a lotus seven s2 lhd or seven S1 with a chassis tag and frame number that can be documented. Will pay top dollar. Rick in NJ What is the attraction that it has to be "s1 s2 lhd with all docs", these have to be rare birds anywhere, partic in US&A. I wonder how many even made it here let alone how many are still alive and kicking? I would want to buy the latest , greatest ,most driveable and liveable 7 I could afford. Is it just a collectable thing? Edited December 21, 2009 by Greg350

Is it just a collectable thing? Greg, The Man knows what he wants . Having all of the " Docs " is a big help when buying anything of value. It's alittle history of were its been. Also a big plus when the time comes to sell it. Like you said, How many are out there ? I don"t know, But if I were going to spend alot of money, I would make damm sure I knew what I was getting. Thats were the Docs kick in. Hell yea their collectable ! What are you looking to buy ??? Edited December 21, 2009 by S1Steve
ricko32 Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 If I were able to register a new caterham or birkin in NJ I may do that, but njdmv makes it so restrictive you wouldn't want the car after doing all the mods necessary to make it legal. Yes the s1 or s2 lhd that can be document are rare. The documentation is the reason they command a higher price. Fun plus investment value! I look at it as when I must sell it it's always better to have no stories. (when I find the correct car I will have it for a long time) So if anyone knows some one that has a s1 or s2 lhd that can be documented and want to pass it on to a old lotus guy please let them know I want to buy. Rick
Kitcat Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 There are newer cars than the Lotus Seven S1 or S2 that can be registered in NJ. Mine was, for instance. Many improvements over the originals too. Make me an offer I cant refuse:). Mike
supersportsp Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Why are you guys trying to convince him to buy something he didn't ask for? He obviously isn't a newbie and knows what he wants. I looked pretty hard at original S3 cars in my search. I either wanted a nice S3 that I could perhaps historic race, or a much newer Caterham. Why do people buy Birkin's with live axle's, why do people buy Stalkers with truck motors? While all of our cars will depreciate for quite some time, his nice S1/S2 with documentation will appreciate.
Greg350 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I don't think anyone is trying to convince him to buy what he does not want. I was just curious .
Kitcat Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 He seems to be motivated, in part, by that fact that newer Se7ens are hard-to impossible to register in NJ. Hence my comment (nicer car, less $, easily registered). Just a thot. Mike
