Apologies for Lee not being in the office; he's actually been down here at meetings, etc. He should be back in his office Monday, as far as I know.

3"in-out 30" case? sound about right

Lets make it shorter since there are a lot of cars that don't have this much room. Besides, "shorter is lighter"...or was that "length doesn't matter" As long as it's still under 95dB at WOT.

3" in and out works for me but I need it shorter as I have a catalytic converter in front of the muffler. 17 - 20" should work for my application.

I'm not in any rush but if someone puts together a group buy I will go ahead and join in.

Does anyone else need a 2 1/2" inlet and outlet? If I ordered one for my car as part of a bulk buy, 3 inches is too large.

Don't know if a "bulk buy" contemplates that all mufflers ordered will be of the same specification, but that would seem to be the only way the manufacturer could offer some discounted price.

Ask the manufacturer, I'm sure they can accomudate the inlet/outlet issue. These are all kit cars and has different specs.

Inlet/outlet is cheap too by the way.

I got a response from Flomaster.

Read below:

Hello,

I’m glad to hear that the muffler is working out for you. I saw the forum thread and was wondering I’d get a call. The muffler we provided for you is a special order item that is available only through our Special Projects Shop, and the cost for that particular muffler would run around $169. If you have anyone that is interested, you can have them contact our Special projects Shop @ 1-800-544-4761 ext. 716, or email at spd@flowmastermufflers.com

Thanks,

Lee Thompson

That $169 is for a 17" long case 4.5 O.D. 3" in-out, Lee also said a 22" is made for $179, and $10 more for a stainless case!!

I like the 22" w/3"in-out stainless for $189. and run no guard becuase outer case stays "cool".This is an all stainless glass pack looking unit I aready have some 3" stanless tube form another project, so all I need is a 3" stailess U-bend and buff-buff woo woo,

Thread-related question: what's the down-side of being on the oversized side of pipe diameter?

my 4-into-1 collector ends in a 2" pipe, on a moderately modified Cross-flowengine (supposedly ~135BHP)... if i use a 3" inlet/outlet muffler and adapt the inlet to mate to the 2" collector, is there any de-tuning risk w/ the 3" outlet if i extend it for the outlet/tip w/ bend?

Again, i'm 2-stroke oriented and don't know how important back-pressure is on these big bore 4-stroke behemoths... could it impact heat dissipation? fuel scavenging? necessitate carb tune tweaks?

TIA and regards... WM

How about an update? Did anyone buy and install a Hushpower? I'm ready to convert from rear exit exhaust to side exit and would like to get an idea how loud it's going to be.

I got one and will definitely recommend it. I put down my impressions and Laguna Seca sound readings at http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=4728
