As requested in the other thread, here're some pics of my nsx.

It's a 1992, with 108,000 kms. I bought it in 2006 when it had 85,000 kms on it, bone stock except for a tackey set of wheels. Over the years I start first with mild, mostly cosmetic mods (skirts, front lip, wheels, coilover and exhaust) but as I got more and more into the car and what it can do on the track it started taking a life of its own.

In 4 years it's gone through 7 sets of wheels, 2 front spoilers, 3 sideskirts, 2 rear valences, and 3 rear wings. Coming from a R32 Skyline GTR with 500hp to a 270 hp NA nsx was a big change, and the car handles amazingly with the only weakness being lack of torque (a honda thing), so from the getgo it was destined to have forced induction. After a lot of research the system I ended up with is a Gruppe M system made by K&N Japan. It utilizes an Eaton M90 positive displacement blower producing 5 lbs of boost, RC550 injectors, walbro 255LPH fuel pump, all controlled with a AEM EMs standalone management ecu for about 400hp (not bad in a 3000 lb car). Chassis is reinforced with NSX-R braces and rear strut tower bar. It's got an RPS billet twinplate clutch, mugen short shifter, Tein Flex coilovers with cockpit controlled settings. Braking is handled by AP Racing 4 pots in the front with stock rear 2 pot calipers and ferodo track (loud and sqeeky) pads, SS lines. It's also got a complete NSX-R red interior with red alcantara recaro SR3 seats, Takata 5 pt harnesses, harness bar, removeable OMP steering wheel, OMP pedals, all interior trim replaced with carbon fibre pieces, CF headlight covers, CF rear window vent, and a Voltex rear wing with gurney flap, and a complete flat undertray from stem to stern that terminates in a complicated rear diffuser that was copied from the racing lemans NSX. The underbody, combined with the vented hood generates zero lift and very usable downforce.

I think that covers it...the project is always a never-ending one but I do think I am nearing completion.

Here're some pics from last week:

I thought this is also kinda fun...a series of pics of my car from when I first got her to today. If my wife sees this she'll kill me once she realizes how much money has gone into my nsx...

Actually I am not a wheel collector. I really wanted to stop at the TE37/BBS LMs stage for track/road wheels combo but the decision to go with bigger brakes suddenly made them unusable :(

I erred on the side of caution with the bigger diameter Volk CE28Ns but after a year could not stand the ride quality and tire choices, so then I went with the Tecnomagnesios (the ones with the red stripe) which had a smaller diameter and cleared my brakes. That worked out well until I got an offer I couldn;t refuse for them (Tecno's are quite sought after in the nsx crowd) so I decided on the Advan RS that are on the bottom of that series of photos. So far I love them and will probably end my wheel juggle there (fingers crossed). However, if I can find another set of bronze Volk TE37s in the right offsets to work, I would jump on those again in a heartbeat.

Very Sharp Looking NSX you have there.....

Want to trade....just jokeing....I know you wouldn't but why not ask.

Haha, believe it or not I actually offered it in a straight trade for a 7 ...and got turned down. Mind you that was during the spring when my car was still stored and I was going through my semi-annual hankering pains for other thrills. Since the NSX is back on the road I realize I can't sell it. So...gotta look for more garage space :)

There's a lot of other "wheel whores" on NSXPrime, which is where I buy and sell most of my wheels. The nsx uses a staggered diameter as well as width and offset, so it's hard to buy "off the shelf" wheels for this car. Most owners buy, get bored after a few years and sell them again on Prime. All but my present set were used. The current wheels are Advan RS, and I special ordered them from a NSX specific company called Science of Speed http://scienceofspeed.com/

I can only imagine the feeling of having the blower 6 inches from your head!

The sounds that thing must make! sweeet! :)

Always loved those NSX.

Had the perfect day today. 15-20 degrees celsius, not too sunny and the car ran like a champ.

Oyagi,

Great action shots! Quick question, is USA one of the only countries that the NSX is badged as an Acura instead of a Honda?

Posted (edited)

Acura only exists in North America. A lot of NSX owners here rebadge them as Hondas since the NSX was conceived to celebrate Honda's dominance of F1 in the 90's. :)
