Ruadhd2 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 My Rotus has just two rusty clamps holding the bonnet on. I was wondering what variety of hold-down systems are easiest to use and install. I was going to go with one forward and aft on the bonnet on each side instead of just two. Also, I want to get these chosen before going to do the bodywork and paint on the car.

JohnCh Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Check out Protex. Lots of options and good quality. -John
Dave Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Some tool box style latches work well and are dirt cheap http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/6519330/2/istockphoto_6519330-toolbox-latch-macro.jpg
Kitcat Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Two? I am all for adding lightness but I'd go w/4, one at each corner. I recall a video here of a "bonnet" blowing off at speed and nearly decapitating the driver!
danilo Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Try Aircraft spruce. "Cessna latches" are good and v light Work 'fine' on my 152 as well as tens of thousands of Cessnas, worldwide. Surprisingly pricey though http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php I had those big Rubber stretchy hold downs on my old S2, worked fine, if a bit ungainly looking.
RossD Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 http://www.mcmaster.com/#about-draw-latches/=arfzvr Or just check your local hardware/home depot store.
