Bster13
Those look the business. Nice! I've always kinda liked the Black Brick.....and the other ones kind interesting also... Cheers Tony
MoPho
My EVO with upgraded suspension has been wonderful DD, but I envision it would get spanked by the lighter 7s in the corners. It will depend more on the driver as to who gets "spanked"
Bster13
Fair enough, I was assuming the driver was a constant. But my goal on the 19th at the NE meetup in NJ is to get a ride in seven or three, not to be roasted by any. :jester: It will depend more on the driver as to who gets "spanked"

Bster13
Who knows... I am confident with the car, it's suspension and power mods, but perhaps I am in awe of all the youtube videos of various sevens crushing everything in their paths....then again most seven owners aren't going to post up videos of them getting smoked at an HPDE. haha. I'd love to get my EVO down to the Smokey Mountains again and this time bring my future seven replica down and do a test and compare.
MoPho
That's what they are all about for you. The beauty of Sevens is that they are infinitely modifiable and can be made to fit each owners needs. There are plenty of us out there who bought them for the power and not necessarily the handling. IMHO the Elise has better handling and feel than my Seven but I still love the combination of power, handling and price that the Ultralite provides. While true they are infinitely modifiable (as is pretty much any car really), the spirit and intent of the design (and of most true British sports cars, including the Elise) is to be a light and agile car with the balance of modest power, a momentum car. The fact that they can take a bit more power these days is a testament to modern technology (specifically tires), but there is still a balance to be found IMO I'd address it further but I would probably be pushing the boundaries of this forums credo As to your Elise comparison, your car is quite a bit different than mine, and in my experience of both having an Elise in the family and having driven the Exige back to back with my Cat, I didn't find the handling as good nor is it anywhere near as good in the feel department either (to me, it was like the difference of going from an Elise to a Miata). Where it did excel is in comfort and the ability to take mid corner bumps better and it is certainly a better compromise to live with than the 7 Edited June 15, 2010 by MoPho
slngsht
Killboy's favorite weapon on the dragon is an EVO. I don't remember the exact figure, but when I heard his start/stop points and elapsed time, it was quite fast. Of course his evo was not stock either. Mopho, I'm not talking about straight line buddy. Just something smooth. That road we were on was pretty bumpy, and the cliffs made me kinda nervous :willy_nilly: It was a fun ride though. The thing that impressed me the most about the car was its ability to stick to the road on rough surfaces... my wheels/tires/brakes/alxe are too heavy, but I'm done modding for a while. Frankn7 has plenty of grip on smooth surfaces.
DeanG
There are aero Se7ens being produced today. They are called Westfield Elevens.
MoPho
Mopho, I'm not talking about straight line buddy. Just something smooth. If there is room enough for you to exorcise the extra power you have in your car, the road is too straight and too boring for me :cooldude: The bumps and cliffs are part of the fun, only thing missing was the jumps (yumps)! Bster13
My favorite road with my Evo IX SE: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b50/bster13/n534371147_1074779_1892.jpg Killboy's EVO VIII armed to the teeth: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b50/bster13/n534371147_1074757_7379.jpg And for a little Lotus content....and exige s I ran with on a little road called "the snake." Free lunch to anyone that can name the route # of that road in TN w/out Googling for it. :willy_nilly:: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b50/bster13/n534371147_1074807_888.jpg And actually if you speak to Killboy (Darryl) he'll tell you a properly outfitted Mini Cooper S will beat him on the Gap because it is so tight. I'd imagine a Seven would do the same. (and he'd love to drive one!) Killboy is a great guy, always fun to visit with year after year.
slngsht
Had dinner with Killboy and his girl (not sure if they're still together - been a while) at the Mexican place in town. Nice guy.

jimrankin
Didn't want to say anything (bad) about the EVO, hot little cars, but my Cooper S takes them on twisty tracks. As for the comparison with a 7, having both, the MINI is going to be staying home if the sun is out!!
Bster13
The thing about EVOs is that their drivetrain allows them to go from mild to wild, but I would agree... on the tightest of tracks, a prepped Mini may win out. I ~do~ appreciate a nice set of summer tires and the AWD though... it's like cheating.
jimrankin
The 16" Inke Superlites that clear the big Wilwoods by a paper thin margin help equal out the allwheel drive a bit, really get to go in late before braking and the MINI is just sooo predictable even Klutz (yes, capital K) drivers do well. It just about sends you a written notice that your pushing the limit.LOL

Bster13
that certainly added aero, but at the expense of weight.
