After reading this thread:

I am thinking I am somewhere between a stock size 15 & 16 seat.

Seat looks like this:

What is your best guess?

(keep in mind, I have the butt of a long time soccer player and I plan take the car to HPDEs and to tour in cool weather, so layers may be needed.)

Thanks!

Best way to find the correct seat size is to try sitting in as many different types as they all seem to fit just a little different depending on the angle and the side blusters and such.

For example in one car that I have the distance across the seat pan is 16.5 inches upright position and the seat fits snugly while in another car the same size seat with 10 degrees of incline I needed to add some padding on the sides to make it fit snugly for me.

You can always add padding but it is hard to stretch a seat to make it fit but that is just my belief.

+1

Since you are looking for a Spec Miata size you should post on Miata.net and I'm sure someone there will let you try out their seat before you buy. Also dont forget o try both with and without your weather gear on.

What is your body type, weight, etc. ?

And is it a tight fit for you and your seat? Like one would prefer on a racetrack or a "decent" fit that would have you fit snugly for the occasional HPDE/Autox but still lend to comfortable street driving? Thx!

16" won't fit in a Birkin, and even the 15" spec Miata seat I installed was a tight fit, both for me and the car!

I'm tall and thin, 6' 3" and 180 pounds with a 35" waist. The fit for me was snug but comfortable, but I had modified the seat extensively by cutting off the torso and thigh supports on the left side because the Birkin cockpit side performs the same function. This gave me about an extra inch of room. I recently sold the car and I cut off the right torso support for the new owner so he could fit more comfortably.

Once I'm home tonight I can post some pics of the seat modifications if you are interested.

Bryce,

A Birkin is not as wide in the passenger/driver area as a Stalker. The Stalker is 4" wider overall and about 7" longer.

Understood. Just trying to get a feel for the 16in seats that were installed in my soon-to-be stalker so I'll know if it's going to be a rough drive home or not. haha.

(I still have to ask about the orig. vinyl seats)

I have the Ultrashield 16" seats in my Super Stalker. I'm just under 6' and 190 lbs. Good fit. So who's Stalker are you getting, #81? You are going to love it!:driving:

I believe that the original seat in my Ultralite was a 16 inch Ultrashield. At 6' 1" ~185 lbs I found them way too big for track work but ok for street driving. The main thing to watch out for is lumbar support which you can add using towels/cushions under the seat cover.
