7 Sized Trailer question...

Recommended Posts

Nice little portable garage / trailer you have their Proj217 for your 7.

Does your car bottom out when you enter as the ramp looks to be fairly steep but that might just be the camera angle in the photo.

Just wondering.

Post some photos of your 7 for us as we all enjoy seeing what is out their.

Is your 7 a scratch built or a CMC chassis with a complete rollcage?

how do you tie the car down with the e-track running laterally directly under the tires?

I actually have been moving the car up further so the etrack sits right behind the tires...crossed straps in the back and 2 in the front racheted down.

Had an issue my 2nd time towing which resulted in a scratch on the back of the 7...that's what happens when you and 4 drunk friends load in your Lotus after your wedding.

After that it's been peachy.

That's great. Your car's a press fit, maybe you don't need any tie downs, just close the door 8-)

I actually just put the car in and dump packing peanuts in through the top!

I love my Aluma single axel w/o brakes tows great behind my BMW zx3.

That I need to see lol What's the rating on the bimmer?

I never was an SUV guy, but the Saab really comes in handy for our camping excursions and is mucho fun in the winter with 390HP and AWD.

Thank you sir!

Car doesn't bottom out, actually has just the right amount of clearance loading into the trailer. I'll try to grab a pic loading her in this weekend.

Here is the car as is...some adjustments need to be made, this is the car at 95% complete. It was a big rush to get her running/painted/sorted because we used it for pictures in my wedding last weekend.

Here is the car 2 months ago:

Two weeks later:

Painted and drivable!

I've put 11 of the most exhilerating miles of my life on it so far!

Still some kinks to work out, she is sitting wayyyy too high, not all gauges are hooked up, but we are getting there.

This was a Coveland frame with an integrated cage. Miata donor.

Going to hillclimb this weekend to learn the limits a bit in a "controlled" environment.

I'm looking at similar trailers. Something small (6x12 or so) & relatively inexpensive I can fit into my garage. A lot of the trailer dealers advertise on Craigslist. I'm finding dual axle trailers with brakes in the $1200 - $1600 range. Be careful as the trailers get much cheaper. Even new trailers will come with used tires when you go really inexpensive.

A couple of places I'm looking are:

wsstrailers.com

trailersplus.com

Both seem to have specials on Craigslist that are cheaper than the offerings on their websites.

I've had a large enclosed trailer in the past. While it was nice, even my suburban struggled to tow it at highway speeds. A v-nose might have helped, but mine was not very aerodynamic. Paying for storage, getting it in and out of storage, etc was a pain. It all depends on your situation.
