JohnCh Posted January 31, 2007 Share Posted January 31, 2007 I was picking up a car in Southern California last week and on the way back to Seattle, I saw something very disturbing on I-5 south of Portland. A new, white Mustang with black racing stripes was parked on the side of the road behind another car. The disturbing part was that the Mustang was ablaze with red and blue lights! He even had them hidden in the front of his side view mirrors. I never would have suspected that it was an unmarked patrol car if I had seen him approaching in my rear view mirror. slngsht Posted January 31, 2007 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Near Baltimore, there is a Camaro on I-95. I've seen various cars used by Maryland State Police, including beat up Buicks, etc... I travel to Plymouth Mass every few months and i often see people pulled over by there unmarked car, Mustang Crown Vic (not so suprizing) Dodge Avanger (Suprizing) to get pulled over by it after you pass him! JohnCh Posted January 31, 2007 Author Share Posted January 31, 2007 We have various unmarked cars here in Washington, including Volvos and Suburbans, but what got me with the Mustang was the two huge racing stripes extending from the grill to the tail. MHKflyer52 Posted February 1, 2007 Share Posted February 1, 2007 Oregon has some other strange State Police Vehicles like a couple of Ford F-250 Superduty 4X4 Extended cab pickups that patrol HYW 6 and HWY 26 west of Portland Or. (Mountains and Forest) and they are not stock as they have push bars, winches, and a cab guard that also supports an array of lights and very fast. I know this because a close friend of mine who is an Oregon State Police Officer and I have actually gone on a ride-a-long with him and his patrol truck so I know first hand. I own an F-350 Superduty and it is fast once you get it moving but his patrol truck was like a jackrabbit from the get go and did not have a speed limiter on it. Oh by the way it his is light blue with silver letters and markings. Fast and can go almost anywhere in all kinds of weather. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Highway patrol in UFO's ? Maybe for PNW2007 we should stay close together. The wolfes always get the sheep roaming alone... Another thing I noticed last summer in NorCal is the radar detector went off all the time even in remote places (sometimes when police was visible but mostly without apparent reason). Posted February 1, 2007 Share Posted February 1, 2007 Two points: When the East Coast Skyline group met up last June, the "sticking close" method allowed all of us to get pulled over by the park constabulary, who pulled a U-turn to chase us down (fortunately we were just starting out) and directed us into the nearest scenic overlook. Only 2 of us got tickets, though. The rest got a stern lecture and "strike 2" written warning. I've been on the New York Thruway up between Albany and Canada...the part they call the Northway...and seen Camaros, Mustangs, etc. travel in pods of 4 or 5 police to hunt down speeders.
