Caterham grill question - 7 emblem behind or in front of mesh?

OK, its probably a matter of taste and not really worth debating, but do you guys put your "7" emblem behind the mesh grill?

 

Mine is currently painted gold and in front and I'm going to switch to silver and behind the grill to tone down the front of the car

I just noticed your head lights have eyelids, haven't seen those in years.

What is this mesh you speak of? Sounds like it would cut down on airflow and add weight

Yes, eyelids are gone. 1st thing I did when I got the car.

 

Other changes were the removal of the huge sticker on the hood (British sportscar club of Japan)

 

I'm also thinking of removing the yellow "7" badges from the sides of the engine hood and looking for smaller side mirrors that attach to the windshield frame. I find the current mirrors ugly and all they show is the rear fender.

It's still handy to have a mirror on the drivers side to fill in the blind spot my big head causes.

I got the standard black Caterham mesh screen for the nose cone, and safety-wired my "7" emblem to it in 4 places, on the posts linking the "7" to its border. The wire matches the silver of the emblem, and is unnoticeable.

 

I painted the radiator with black radiator paint, and the front-mounted Spal fan housing is black, so (as I intended), the entire area behind the nose cone is black.

 

By the way, I had my "7" emblem made 2/3 the standard size, and I think it is better-proportioned to the nose cone opening this way.

 

I am thinking of painting the four links between the "7" and the surrounding border black, to separate the two visually.

 

I second the opinion on the panoramic "mirrirsforsevens" made by our bsimon -- they are just the ticket!

Mesh doesn't really cut down airflow, but it is better than a rock taking out the radiator.

 

 

I added the mesh to my car, initially put it in front, then moved it behind and painted all the posts and cross bars black except for the logo

Twobone I have just black mesh in my car behind my custom cut Birkin emblem which is the way I like it, I did this to stop rocks taking out my radiator but im really quite happy with how it looks too.

black out the webs, it will look a lot better as a floating 7;

The only reason I didn't put it behind was the thought that it would be harder to clean the bugs out.
