Ruadhd2 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 You know to protect the rear fenders? My stone guards have gone missing after buying the car freshly painted. Thinking of the black spray stuff instead of stainless steel because of the black contrast on a yellow car.
pi7ot Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Probably spray on bed liner, Rhino, or something out of the Eastwood catalog. I'm planning on using some of this stuff on the nose cone a la Caterham and some on the rear wings. m
scannon Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I used Rhinoliner on the stainless stone guards and on the underside of all four wings.
slomove Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) I used a 1/16" self-adhesive EPDM rubber sheet (McMaster #8610K2). Protects very well, inexpensive, weather resistant, can be easily cut to size and replaced. When treated with a little ArmorAll, is becomes a deep shiny black. Edited October 18, 2010 by slomove
jwduncan Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I recently tried some Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating which comes in 16.5oz spray cans. So far, it has worked great and it's as easy to apply as spray paint.
WestTexasS2K Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I have had great success with Rhino liner. It can be color matched to the car if you don't want black.
Ian7 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I used cheapo spray-on rustproofing undercoat on the inside surfaces of all fenders. Helps stop rock chips and stars, without adding too much weight, but more significantly, leaves the fenders free to flex a little. (Helps that my fenders are black). So far so good.....
