Alaskossie
i've got a couple of black leather vintage-style motoring helmets from Aviation Leathercraft in UK :http://www.flying-jacket.com/product-details.aspx?id=15 They make accurate replicas of the WW II Irvin bomber jacket, etc. The quality is outstanding, and the wind and cold protection are excellent. There is a nice cloth lining, and a short brim, and an elasticized collar for your neck, and a snap-strap in the back to hold your goggles on. It really looks like something out of the rugged days of motoring around 1905-1915. When combine with a windstopper-lined climbing jacket and a fleece vest, it does the job, and stylishly, too. Mondo
I have the leather skull cap & vintage goggles... but look too much like a dork in it. You got to have the right shape face for it (not a narrow face & big nose;) ) I have a hat that's sort of like a lined baseball cap but a flap folds down covering ears and back of head. Good for 50-60 degree weather http://www.blair.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=2999&mr:referralID=470a53f0-e719-11df-af68-001b2166becc Really cold, wear a balaclava http://www.compacc.com/Apparel-Mens-Street-Headwear , Edited November 3, 2010 by Mondo
SkinnyG
Mine's pretty much like this, and keeps me warm when it's below freezing: http://www.porhomme.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/marshall-artist-waxed-canvas-hat-1.jpg http://www.porhomme.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/marshall-artist-waxed-canvas-hat-2.jpg
11Budlite
Since the Seven is considered the closest thing to a 4-wheeled motorcycle, I think you have to look to the motorcycle world for the most comfortable options. I picked up a Gerbing heated jacket liner and temp controller last year and it's the best thing I've ever done for cold weather driving. It heats up within moments of turning it on and I'm toasty all the way to work. I use a balaclava or hooded sweatshirt to keep my head warm and some decent gloves to keep my hands warm but the rest of me stays warm just by heating my core. I removed my heater/blower unit to free up some space under the dash/hood and I only use the doors when the temps are around 30 or below. It's not a cheap option but for someone who likes to extend the driving season as long as possible it's worth it! Read about it here: http://gerbing.com/
bsimon
:iagree::iagree: Skinnie's ushanka has all the proper aero characteristics for a well weathered Seven pilot. Need to add one of those "NOTUS" badges to the visor though...
