Assembled 7 without drivetrain in Canada

Looks like it might be a Westfield judging by the one piece nosecone and bonnet.

That's not a current Westfield nose cone - the only one with the glassfibre grill bars is the vented nose, which has a big vent at the back of the nose cone, which this one doesn't have. Also, the bonnet isn't like any current Westfield bonnet.

If it is a Westfield, what are the measurements in relation to a "book" frame, I'm a long legged dreamer.

Sounds like it's an SV-ish frame, which is bigger. Hard to tell without more info.

I got curious about the car and emailed the seller, here is his response:

this car was factory built...that is what makes it special and of value........it was not built by a hobbiest in his backyard without a jig etc. It was built in South africa by RM industries ltd.........they where shut down by Colin Chapman because they were such a good copy of a Super 7 that they were perceived to be a threat. Shortly after their demise, Chapman sold the Super Seven to Caterham and they did not care about anyone copying them.....and hence all the other models out there now.

I will send further pictures....the car is dusty as it was sitting in the warehouse and someone took off the cover to view it and never put it back.

The unique thing about this car is that the front is all one piece of fiberglass and all of it tilts forward.....so everything is totally accessible....radiator and everything....it is a great design.

The rad is in.......there is a rear end (ford sierra) that goes with it, SS gas tank, side exhaust and lots of other stuff as well..........it is a good deal for someone that wants to finish it and have themselves a unique and powerful car....

I've loaned out my book "Lotus Seven & the Independents: Featuring the Lotus Seven and a History of the World's Independent Builders" and can't remember who has it so I can't look up RM Industries and get more info.

Edit: The seller sent me some pictures, you can view them here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3290225/2002-mazda-miata-mx-5/page-2

2nd Edit: I just discovered I posted this reply in the wrong thread so I have moved it here.

Ortenburger p88

"RM Classics of South Africa produced two versions of the Lotus Seven and they were the RM 7 and the special equipment RM 8. Both versions called for the same engine, the Ford sierra. Both cars featured stainless steel front and rear bumpers, petrol tank, wing stone guards, roll bar and sidewinder exhaust. Both versions had a plush padded dashboard and full carpeting.

....

RM 7 was the standard version while the RM 8 was built to a more luxurious specification. These included a slightly longer and wider cockpit fitted with leather seats. Both cars used the familiar double wishbones in the front and a rigid axle in the back but the RM 8's front suspension was completely adjustable. The RM 8 was visually different as well due to the fitting of ten inch wide wheels front and rear. The RM 7 had clam shells in front but the RM 8 used cycle wings."

RM Classics was also tied in with the Caterham and Westfield litigation when those two companies sued Tiger Company who at the time were importing fRM cars into the UK.
