twobone Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hi, I'm heading on holidays for 2 weeks and am looking for a great auto-racing paperback. I recently read "Go Like Hell" and loved it. What are your favourite car related reads?
scannon Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein is a good one.
locost7018 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Roadster (How and Especially Why a Mechanical Novice Built a Sports Car from a Kit) By Chris Goodrich. It is about building a Lotus 7 car. Russ
solder_guy Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 _driving with the devil_ loved it .. and I'm not a NASCAR fan.
SCH Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Roadster (How and Especially Why a Mechanical Novice Built a Sports Car from a Kit) By Chris Goodrich. It is about building a Lotus 7 car. Russ :iagree: Fantastic book! Hard to find nowadays since it's been out of print for a few years. But if you can find a good used copy (I think I purchased mine on either eBay or Amazon) don't think twice - just buy it! You'll be glad you did. It's been a little while since I read it, but The Gold-Plated Porsche: How I Sank a Small Fortune into a Used Car, and Other Misadventures by Stephan Wilkinson is another fantastic book worth checking out. I'm just about to finish The Cobra in the Barn: Great Stories of Automotive Archaeology by Tom Cotter. It's a great read with lots of interesting stories. I'd highly recommend it.
twobone Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Thanks I picked up racing in the rain. I will take that with me to Costa Rica after I'm done with Keith Richard's stream of consciousness autobiography. Its a good book but kind of all over the place. A good read for a stones fan.
glenntwincam Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I'm surprised no one has mentioned " The Last Open Road " by B.S.Levy . very entertaining , especially if your a fan of road racing in the 1950's . don't know if it's available in paperback .
solder_guy Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I have the B.S. Levy book. I still need to read it. I'll go look for it right now .. I've read the Cobra in the Barn .. great bathroom reading .. Rob
