bobosuper7 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 folks looking for an answer on motor mounts for a 72 super seven ...was told they are Jaguar mounts any truth to this ?????? help
MHKflyer52 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 You might want to look through the Moss Motors Catalog and Vitoria British Catalog to see if you can match them up. It might also help to post a photo of what you have to help identify it.
escondidoron Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 You might want to check with Jeff and/or Jay at JAE. http://www.jaeparts.com/ The engine mount vibration isolators used on all Ford Kent engined Lotus Seven S2 and S3 are the same. This is according to the book, "Lotus Seven Restoration, Preparation & Maintenance" by Tony Weale. The original donor car source is not specified, but the part number that is called out is BM382. They can be purchased from JAE, they may possibly have them in stock. I'm replacing the ones on my S2 this weekend. I bought them from JAE. They shipped them from stock and they arrived the next day.
SkinnyG Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I'd like to see how these compare (I think they are what you're after): 61-71 Jaguar XKE Beck/Arnley #1040450 http://info.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imageurl=http%3A%2F%2Finfo.rockauto.com%2FBeckArnley%2F1040450.jpg&imagekey=476197-0&width=450
scannon Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 That E type mount looks close to the current Caterham mounts which are available from Caterham USA.
escondidoron Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 (edited) Can't tell the hole spacing dimensions from the picture, but it sure looks like the ones on my S2. I just looked on the Rock Auto website. $7.04 each. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1393051,parttype,5552,a,Search%2Bfor%2BVDO And then there's this one for the '63 XKE at $5.34 http://info.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imagekey=1133930&imageurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.uroparts.com%2Furo%2Fpictures%2Fpicture%2Fparts0%2FC18556.jpg http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1341324,parttype,5552 Edited May 28, 2011 by escondidoron
bsimon Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 There is a safety issue with these vibration isolators. The originals tend to separate when they have seen their useful duty life. Here and here If you buy the isolators from CaterhamUSA you will get the ones with a safety feature built in. The isolators from other sources may not have this feature.
BlueMax Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 You’ll find this mount common with in the British car families. You can find the Healey 3000 transmission mount is the same too, Moss part number 011-146.
