slomove Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) We went to the SCTA speed trials at El Mirage Dry Lake. Arrived a bit late today so we only got a glimpse of the last 2 runs (nuts....). But it was a nice trip anyway. Through some snow on Angeles Crest Highway (35 degrees) and lots of flying gravel to the Mohave desert. I took some pictures of the strange scenery and the weird vehicles (at the least the ones that were still there). Never mind the missing wings and overall ratty look of my car. There is still South Dakota dirt on it from the summer trip. Edited November 14, 2011 by slomove
MHKflyer52 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Very cool Gert. So what did the Honda have in it for a power plant......sure not stock.....
MoPho Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I was just up there last week, but for a photoshoot
escondidoron Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Very cool pictures. I'm up at Elmo 2-3 times a month. The lakes racing is really cool…..unless the wind comes up. Then the lake bed can be a nightmare! Besides SCTA activities 6 - 8 times a year, the wind racers and the ultra lights make for some interesting scenery too.
locost7018 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Very cool Gert. So what did the Honda have in it for a power plant......sure not stock..... Looks like a BEC. Those cars were 2 cyl. and there a 4 pipes coming out the grill and it looks like a bike engine behind the grill. I wonder if it is FWD or RWD? As far forward as the motor is I bet it is FWD. Russ
scannon Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) It has a Suzuki GSXR-750 motor. Found it near the bottom here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=590000&showall=1 Lots of other great pictures from the opening event of the year. Edited November 14, 2011 by scannon
slomove Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 As mentioned we were late and missed the best part of the event, most folks were already packing up. For the little Honda it definitely looked like a bike engine.
