jimrankin Posted December 7, 2011 Share Posted December 7, 2011 At the beginning of the war they were shooting down everyone elses early 30's vintage aircraft with their superlightweight low wing loading modern fighter. By the time we got some modern aircraft up against them the fragil airframe, radial profile and the original "power to weight" ratio of the Zero was offset and their advantage pretty much went away.
