KiwiBirkin
After getting off my arse I decided to make a video using Windows Movie Maker too see how easy it was too use and produced this, its in 720p on Youtube and has come out ok and took all of 20mins to sort out and render. Info 5min video from some 2hrs of video I took on a day trip with 2 other cars, its of the climb out from Okains bay on Banks Peninusla in the South Island NZ. Red car is a NZ Fraser powerd by a 4AGE and the Yellow car is a local McGregor Motorsport built car powerd by a MX5 1800. Video footage is a bit bumpy because the road was. MHKflyer52
Neat video....you should have told everyone it was due to the tremmors the south island has experenced and not that the road was bumpy:jester:. Looks like you had a great day and a good time out in your 7. Haveing said that how are things going now that sometime has passed and what is going to happen to the old part of Christchurch. Croc
Hi Kiwi - You know how to make me jealous when I am faced with cold wet crappy weather! Have you made a decision yet on whether you are going to stick it out in Christchurch or move somewhere less shakey?
snookwheel
Loved the video! Thanks. Sure wish there was roads like that here. Scott
DeanG
Nice. It did make me think that the only thing that confuses me more than driving my RHD car in a LHD country would be driving a RHD car in a RHD country or the worst driving a LHD in a RHD country. KiwiBirkin
Hi guys Things are going ok here still a bit shaky with some 4.0s coming through every now and then but its settled down a bit more. As for the city, Christchurch city center is still mainly closed with 700 buildings too still be taken down by demolition with the 4 main big hotels just staring to come down and also the central city cathedral in the heart of the city which sufferd massive damage has now been give the demolition order too, 12000 house's have been put into red zones which means the house or the land can not be occupied again so the goverment will buy you out and you move on, rebuilding houses is a bugger as the insurance companies are playing hardball by not insuring new houses because of the on going aftershocks. Christchurch is going to take a long time to fix with local body councils giving estimates of 20 years + with a country of 4 million people and only 980,000 of them tax payers you can understand the maths and see why, the roading infustructure alone will cost of 20 billion they are saying, and I dont think NZ can afford it myself. As for me & Marg we are still planning to move to Brisbane Australia, as our house is in a good area we have seen house prices jump as people get cashed up in the red zone and look to buy out of town, we have seen prices go up 50-80K and we will take advantage of that increase as every bit will help with a move across to Aussie as we lose 25% on the exchange rate our house was built to the new EQ standards that came out a couple of years before the quake so its all good for us and anyone who buys our house. So for now the plan is too still seek a new life in Aus, I have lived in NZ for 25 years and it was time for a change anyway. Jim F.
Of course, sorry to hear of all the problems with mother nature in NZ, as our visit to and around Auckland in '94 was awe-inspiring. Immediately after leaving Auckland we flew on to spend 2 weeks in Brisbane for the World Master Games. We have such fond memories of Brisbane and its people that we have thought many times about returning there sometime in the future. The best of life and luck to you and your family in the future, Kiwi! Couldn't be a better choice for a move in your part of the world.
Croc
As for me & Marg we are still planning to move to Brisbane Australia I can understand the desire to move out of Christchurch. I think you will go well in Brisbane - it has been a lucky city and done well in the last 20 years. Unfortunately real estate prices have got ridiculously high. Good luck finding a new home!
