Skip: Ya gotta give Hank a ride!

Any time, although it seems tame compared to my Seven.

The vent rings on the Miata are engraved although it is no longer running 15 psi.

Hmmm.....I have video of you in the seven going through there at about 30mph. Same session that you stopped in the middle of the track to check out a flaggie waving at you. :jester:

Yeah, I got so use to You and Kitcat going off track and kicking up duststorms that I started seeing waving yellow flags everywhere I looked. :smilielol5:

After the first session he came over and demanded to see the V8 engine in my Miata. I told him it was just a four banger and he wouldn't believe me. Played him along a bit then opened the hood. He looked at it for a bit and turned and walked away muttering just loud enough for me to hear: God damned four banger, just a God damn four banger. After the next session he came back for another look. Didn't say a word and went off and loaded his car back on the trailer and left.

Another time at that same track with CECA a Viper driver asked for a ride in the Miata. On the warm up lap I went into a corner called Widow Maker at a reasonable speed, late braking to warm up the brakes. I heard a gasp and saw his foot head for a non-existent brake pedal. He also pulled the upper end of the arm rest out of the door. I looked at him with a WTF expression on my face and he said he thought he was going to die. I said wait till the next lap when the tires and brakes are warm. He asked me to let him out after the second lap. Four times over the years I've had people pull that arm rest out. Good thing its only a 50 cent plastic part to fix.

Seems like a good idea to have the first time drivers, especially the ones with brand new mega HP cars go out with some supervision.

I'm only a mid-hack level driver but years ago when I was taking a friends wife for a ride in my MINI at a Thunder Hill track day I had a Big Porsche holding us back. I pointed out the flag man showing him the faster car behind you flag and told her he would let us by. He didn't and pulled way ahead at the next straight. After about three laps of me polishing his rear bumper through the turns and him ignoring the flags one of the corner workers (turn 11) actually came down next to the track and smacked his fender with the flag. He must have done the same thing to someone else as he wasn't in the paddock when we got off track and someone else told me he was flagged off track, picked up his stuff and left.

This was in the advanced group. I won't say who was running the track day but I was told that they rely on the applicants being honest about their ability when they allow them to pick the group they want to run. Got a feeling that the P driver had his cars potential in mind when he signed up, not his.I'm sure I could have made mince meat out of my MINI with his car. LOL
