Visiting East Coast end of April and looking for track time.

I have two meetings spaced four days apart in Bethesda, and then Boston, and am considering just staying out there and finding a track event to enjoy. The period is April 28 - May 1. VIR and Limerock don't have anything going on those dates. Summit Point has a group called "COM Sports Car Club" hosting an event. Has anyone run with them?

I will need to find a car too, hopefully a track car. My car is outside of the size limits to check as baggage. :auto: I would be happy, though, to drive a Prius around a track! I'll have to see if there are any folks with COM who would rent me their car for a day or two.

 

I have never been to any of the tracks on the East Coast, so would appreciate any suggestions.

 

I'll start doing my homework on events and such. Just thought I'd ask for any suggestions from those who know the area.

I am in Bethesda. The only events I am aware of are:

April 21 SCA PDX /Club Trials @ Summit Point Shenandoah tarck

Apr 27-28 NASA @ Summit Point Main Track

If you or anyone here is going to the NASA event at Summit Point on the 28th, I might come out that way. Still looking into the track event there the 29th and 30th.

The relevant dates at NJMP are:

4/5 - Thunderbolt

4/14 - Lightning

4/18 - Lightning

4/25 - Thunderbolt

4/26 - Thunderbolt - late start/night driving

 

 

These are track days - non-timed and non-competitive events. There are some conditions to qualify but we can take that offline. I am usually unable to make mid-week but can make it Fridays and weekends - prefer going when I can get 2 days in a row. There are others on here - Yellowss7, JBH, Blubarisax who go regularly.

 

There are other options with the regular NJMP track days - check their website calendar which will show which other outside organizations are renting which days on either circuit (trackdaze, Joeys, SCDA, etc)

 

For car rental the first place that comes to mind is Entropy Racing. Yellowss7 may know someone who can help. I am sure NJMP could suggest a few names if you ring them.

I would like to drive Thompson CT. It is close to where I grew up. The road course became inactive before I was old enough to go there.

I am planning on attending the April NASA weekend in HPDE group 4 with instructors.

Thanks for all the advice. Since my dates are April 28-May 1, I may try to make the NASA event on April 28 only, and then maybe one or two days with COM at Summit Point on April 29 or 30. I e-mailed Entropy Racing to see what they could do for me. Their E-spec Caterham looks very similar to my last car, so that would give me a familiar platform.

If you can add an extra day there is an event at Limerock on 5/2. They rent spec Miatas as well.
