slngsht Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I think if I had bought an Eleven instead of a Seven, my wife would be more into it.
11Budlite Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 I'm going to try to post a pic... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/446478939_56LotusXIOutside0001.jpg
slngsht Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I think if I had bought an Eleven instead of a Seven, my wife would be more into it. unless it was $75K
11Budlite Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 You should have one of each. Just tell her it's a great investment!!
slngsht Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 my problem is I can't leave these cars alone after I get them. Buying an original is probably not a good idea for me
Davemk1 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 That is a truly stunning vehicle. Makes me wish I did something for a living that really paid well. But I love my job nonetheless. But that car can make one second guess everything. Dave
locostv8 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 This will sound like a tale but I swear it's true. In the early 70s I believe 72 I had a AC Bristol that had been repowered by an aluminum Buick, I couldn't keep stub shafts in it. I lived in Alameda and met a kid that had an 11 that he wanted to trade for the AC. He left it with me for a couple of days to try out. It was terrifying to drive in Bay Area traffic. RHD, 4WDB(had to nearly use both feet to stop it), Coventry engine, boat windshield to make it kinda street legal. I'm sorry to say I passed on the deal. Knowing what I do now I kick myself but I would have probably destroyed it and myself after I would have put an alfa 1300 in it.
stevet Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Man, they are beautiful cars... I found this photo I took at the Goodwood Festival in the late 90's. Much as I hate polishing Ali, the results are sometimes magic. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/183281419_11 at goodwood, web.jpg
11Budlite Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 Nice photo Steve! Check this out: http://lotuseleven.org/Events/Sebring2006/lotus_eleven_reunion.htm I used to see a beautiful polished aluminum Eleven at Lime Rock at the vintage races. I think it was driven by Brian McEachern and it was beautiful!!! Bruce
