Looking for another Canadian 7

Looking for a new plated 7, no matter what the make. Must be LHD due to the new prejudice against RHD cars (otherwise I'd be all over that hayabusa-engined rhd 7 listed in Toronto kijiji!).

Thanks

hey Paul, FWIW, when I was trying to resell that somewhat disappointing 7 I bought last year I had way more people complain about it being RHD than they did about its condition.

Never bothered me, I figured it added to the appeal, but there you go....

We have a fair bit of personal experience with rhd...a close friend having a '62 S2 rhd that has spent a lot of time in our hands...and have been none the worse for the experience. Maybe I should not tempt the fates and add "so far"!

Driving a RHD car on NA roads isn't as much of a problem as you might think. Popping from the shoulder into the oncoming lane to overtake does test the passenger's composure at times...

Most folks do instantly recognize your car as British, however a few cheeky individuals will question your ability to reach the postboxes on your rural route.

I find toll booths and takeaway windows to be the biggest issue.

Post boxes are actually safer with rhd as you can drive in the correct road direction and reach the box rather than the typical idiot that pulls ovrr to the wrong side of the road. I had one of those a**holes almost get me last night when he pulled out right in front of me after getting his mail.

I know there was a Quebec gov't initiative a few years ago to ban the import of RHD cars. They claimed safety concerns despite a complete lack of supporting data. The suspicion was that this was a sop to car dealers who didn't like the competition from 15 year old Japanese imports.

Sorry, been away for a spell....

What I mean is that it is getting harder and harder to find insurance for rhd cars in Ontario. I have owned 2 rhd JDM skyline GTRs and my old Fejer 7, all insured under Hagerty. I was looking into importing a rhd Caterham and found out Hagerty no longer will carry RHDs unless they are at least 25 years old. My regular insco, Intact wont touch RHDs either.
