Where to owners of these cars get together?

I have been wanting to build one of these cars for years. I have other projects that always came first for one reason or another. Well my 16 year old son has a fire to build one so here I go, and I'm thrilled. I would love to go to a get together where they gather to get some ideas and what not.

I am into vintage custom and classic cars and know where a zillion and a half shows and get togethers are for them, but for something like the Lotus, nothing.

What do you say, how do I see these cars in person?

Thanks, Brian

Brian, your timing is impeccable. On Saturday, 2013 September 21 at Vasona Park in Los Gatos there will be a picnic that is likely to have a number of cars. Starts at 10:00 a.m., a quick blat from around 10:30, and the obligatory ceremonial grilling of the meat upon returning to the park, somewhere around 1:00 p.m. Please see the California Caterham Club's Events section for further details (though that's most of it, right there).

Please feel free to join in if you can make it. :seeya:

Here is a photo from the 1st annual NorCal 7s picnic, held last year in October:

You also have multiple Sevens showing up to almost every GGLC (http://gglotus.org/) Autocross and track day. I know there will be at least two of us at the Thunderhill track day next thursday (12th)

Also if you want to check out a build in progress both DietschWerks (http://www.dietschwerks.com/) and Kampena (http://www.kampena.com/) are currently building CSR 260s for customers.

Thank you so much guys, this looks like it's going to be fun! Now the only challenge is not showing too much excitement building this car. I need it to be my son's NOT mine.

Brian

I know what you mean by being excited by a build.

Many years ago , my son wanted a dune buggy, I agreed to foot 1/2 the bill, and help him build it. I did instigate two rules, And while I kept to them, it was really hard when I wanted to work on it.

Rule #1: No working on the car until after your homework is done.

Rule #2: Dad will never work on the car alone.

It all worked out great, and my son developed some good skills. here's his car.

Check out EuroSunday http://www.eurosunday.net/. They have a San Francisco/Bay Area association. They meet a various locations (I attend occasionally in the Sacramento region) in the area on a Sunday morning. All sorts of vehicles show up, from the Lambo's, Ferraris down to the Datsun 510s, BMW 2002s etc.. My 1963 Lotus 7 is one of the older vehicles to show up generally, but nobody looks down their nose at anyone's car. It's usually a 2 hour or so activity, often followed by an organized drive through the region. Good fun.
